Hardball last night: shamelessly whoring for Bush (Annenberg poll).
Boy, I couldn't take but a second of it. I flipped to "Hardball", and Matthews asks Repub pollster and reliable Bush-ass-licker the loaded question: "So do you think Bush got a bump from his Thanksgiving visit to Iraq?"

Of course they already knew the "results" of the Annenberg poll out earlier in the day which seems specifically geared at making it look like there was a bump. As I posted yesterday, Polingreport.com has no other entries for this poll since Bush took office, except one right BEFORE the visit, and one right AFTER the visit. (http://www.pollingreport.com/BushJob.htm)

As someone pointed out yesterday, Annenberg is a right-wing think tank founded by the right-wing media mogul of the same name. Hmmnnn. Could it be that the Annenberg Center at the University of Pennsylvania was one of the few who had advance notice of Bush's trip? Or maybe they just coincidentally decided to conduct their first ever poll on Bush's approval rating immediately before, and then after, his T'giving trip.

So Luntz says "yes, he got a bump... and look how well he's doing!" (this poll has him 10% higher than most major polls of late). Then they put up a graphic showing the results. Yeah, Matthews had NO IDEA about this poll.

One of the most obvious and shameless examples yet I've seen of the media trying to make Bush look popular. Maybe they're getting desperate?

1. It was a lovefest

At least Matthews hasn't has had Coulter on lately.

2. Luntz and Matthews have their dances choreographed.
Last night's Hardball appearance by Luntz should have been a real eye-opener for Democratic primary voters. But, too many won't admit it.

3. And the Hillary bashing was non-stop
I knew it was going to happen and really only caught part of it but I knew it had been bad been I heard Rep Ford say Hillary Clinton is a Senator from New York and on the Armed Forces Committee, etc. Sounded as if he was standing up for her right to be there. Matthews is sickening.

5. I almost broke my own promise to not watch Tweety
Edited on Thu Dec-04-03 12:25 PM by chaumont58
One of the blogs I read alot had comments on Tweety and his guests gushing on Dean. It didn't seem very likely to me, and I wanted to see just what form of gushing Tweety would do. I live on the West Coast and had to wait for the 7pm pst repeat. While I was waiting I began to think that Tweety, Luntz and Pat Caddell might gush on Dean as a minute way to bash the Clinton. Supposedly, there is bad blood between the Clintons and the Dean Camp. With that in mind, I joined the Tweety show right in the middle of their Hillary bashing. A few seconds of that and I bailed. I don't know if I broke my promise or not. Can I still be a little bit virgin.
During the 1992 campaign, I heard Clinton define a fool as someone who does the same thing over and over, and expects different results. Expecting fairness and honesty out of Tweety is a fool's errand. He is a whore of the first order and always will be.

6. Your instincts are right, imo.
I do believe part of the reason they gush on Dean is to attack the Clintons as washed up has beens who are no longer relevant. Heh...they same way they treat the UN.
