Bartcop endorses Clark
Bart's a Wes fan and just posted an amusing account of one of his visits to Oklahoma

Bartcop announces he supports Clark and my opinion of Clark changes.

Clark just jumped from number 5 to a neck and neck battle for the top spot with Dean in my book.

40. Dean is Pro-NAFTA/GATT too, remember?
It's too bad Dean wasn't forcefully AGAINST the corporate trade agreements, instead of being weakly FOR them. Now there's one less issue that's different between Dean and Clark.

41. no argument here
It's just that Walt went all ballistic on Clark (I am neither a Clark nor Dean person, so I am objective here) because of some comments he made in the debate about letting India keep the high-tech jobs.

I think it's funny a person can switch allegiances to a candidate with less trouble than changing one's mind about a flavor of ice cream.

45. if you're going after Clark re India jobs
I think, maybe, you should also consider focusing on the entities responsible. Here's a couple from the hindustan times:

http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_481940,0003.htm
http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_482137,0003.htm

A couple weeks ago, a bunch of Austin religious groups started organizing and badgering construction companies that were working on building a new Planned Parenthood facility - ended up shutting it down. If people are so pissed about this sort of BPO outsourcing why not put the pressure where it belongs - on these companies, and the companies that employ them. Accenture already moved its ass to Bermuda to avoid paying taxes - so if you want someone to be pissed at start hammering the domestic firms that actually hire companies like this.

46. It's the fault of the US corporations, no one else's
The problem is that most of the leadership in the Democratic party - including Dean, and Clark's people, and most everyone else - is 100% pro-outsourcing and off-shoring by US corporations. And they still want to give them free access to our market, even as they refuse to hire Americans at American wages. Unbelievable!

I have no dog in this fight - I was just mocking the fickleness of WaltStarr, who loves Clark one day, and hates him the next. Why waste your time throwing stats at me when I wasn't arguing for or against what he said in the debate one way or the other.

Ah, GD!

65. 100%
I don't know about Dean's policy, other than he has been pro-NAFTA. I do understand Clark's policy which made me grit my teeth, but it is honest. If I am honest when I said I don't want to be lied to by a politician, then I have to live with it.

Even protectionist policy can't stop jobs from leaving. What we can do is enforce the tax laws that are on the books, and close the tax loopholes that encourage the bastards. Secondly, move the upper level tax give away to the jobs creation side of the equation. Finally, create and push new technologies to (Clark just named a steady stream of them tonight but I only caught nano tech) make new jobs in new fields, including tech sector jobs that will be created when we upgrade our systems in healthcare. Americans need to stop the megacorps that are pushing us to compete with the 3'rd world. How in the hell can Americans live on 3'rd world wages. Clark has said that we are only at the beginning of the technology age, and he is concerned that if we don't take the lead, others will eat our lunch.

Clark has said the the government purchases should be made from companies using US labor. He also wants corporate profits used to level the playing field by rewarding the labor that created those profits.

I can deal with that.

20. He's a liberal. Bart gives him a shout out and I agree.
I don't care what others think. You have
to support that person you believe in and
I am tired of telling people why I believe
in Clark. Its for everything, not just
security. Clark supporters have to keep
explaining the totality of their decision
in a way no one else has to.

I will support ANY dem but Clark gives me
hope like John Kennedy did. I hope he wins.
I hope he and dean or something get this
thing going. Bush has to go. Go, Clark.

Thank you, Bart, for the conversation.

I'd like to get a bit more excited about this but WHO exactly is bartcop? I'm so out of touch culturally. I did enjoy reading his up close and personal account of time with Clark, though. I was able to get close enough to shake Clark's hand in Chicago and heard him speak for a few minutes.

There is a quite sense of purpose, calm, intelligence and humor that surrounds him. I got to meet (listen to, shake hands with) Clinton a few times in the '92 primary race and Clark seems a bit more ... um ... presidential.

38. Hi jmaier
Bartcop has a daily journal he keeps at:
http://www.bartcop.com/.
He publishes letters and discussions and
political cartoons. There's also a discussion forum.

His site has been around a long long time, since coup2k.
He's consistently anti-Bush, has been for years, is very
outspoken about it, and I think he's completely sincere
and credible.

He's nobody's puppet.

I'm pretty sure he has a real name. :)

66. Great news! I've been sensing this one coming on.
"One last thing, and this isn't meant to piss off the Dean supporters and the Kerry supporters, but if you agree with me (you kinda have to) that Bush will run his 2004 campaign as the candidate who can best get the military to protect us, how can you not say Clark is the best man to counter that clumsy Bush lie?

I like Dean - I even sent him some money, but we're going to have some helps-Bush terrorist attacks between now and the election and people will be scared and they're going to vote for their safety and
the B.F.E.E. will paint Dean as a deranged northeast liberal with a temper and they can't do that to Clark.

Plus, it'll be hard for Bush's good puppy press to say Clark doesn't know foreign affairs and Clark might even win a lot of votes from the military and gun owners, two groups that dissed Gore in 2000.

I've always said I would support the Democrat who has the best shot at beating Bush. The object is to lose Bush, not win the election for any particular Democrat.

Can I get a "Hell, yeah!" for a Clark-Dean ticket?" Bartcop

67. Bart's been making goo goo eyes
at Clark for months now. But I still read his page just about every day. You gotta love someone who LOATHES Bush as much as he does. And Bartcop hammers home every day that the most important thing is ejecting that illegal usurper and his junta from power so we're all going to have to unite around the Nominee, whoever that turns out to be.

73. Doesn't surprise me.
I dropped bartcop and MWO from my favorites a while ago.

Nothing new there, and much bias. Okay reading, but nothing for me I can't get here.

How would you feel if Skinner endorsed Dean and made the front page of DU a Dean site?

74. That would suck.
But did you realize that Bartcop is basically a personal blog? How can you even compare that to DU?
