Question about the CA recall....
How exactly does this work?

I keep hearing that Kemp, Ah-nold, Savage, etc are all going to try for the spot.

Will they all be on the ballot?

If so, then why not let the repubs dilute their base among 10 candidates and have all the dems line up for one?

1. The problem is
Assuming the Governor is recalled.

The one with the most votes wins.

Not a majority.

Unless I'm wrong about this.

4. No you are correct. Someone with as little as 20% of the popular vote
could be the next governor.

2. Its a plurality
THe GOP Chair has said publically that he would appreciate it if nobody filed until the last moment so that they can go into a smoke filled toop and annot a single candidnate.

Not going to happen. Issa, Schwarzenegger (Riordan if the terminator says no). Bill Simon are potential candidates. It is a straight plurality vote.

Dems will not put up anyone in the replacement so effectively they have to get out the vote to defeat the recall.

It is a tough choice. If Davis loses the recall there will not be a sem in the election.

But if there is a Dem in the election. Davis will lose the recall. I think it will come down to whether or not Arnold gets in.

3. Two sections to the ballot
Yes or no on the recall

If the recall is yes, who do you choose to elect.
All candidates have 16 days to declare their candidacy and enter the race as of yesterday.
