Too Much Emphasis is Placed on the Medicare Bill's Political Impact
For all the talk about propaganda and appearances, most people, especially older people, actually vote on substance. Nobody who really relies on Medicare is impressed by this bill.

The AARP is in danger of losing their power over this fiasco and the only way they can shore it up is to bend over backwards to prove they aren't in cahoots with the GOP. This is going to blow up in Bush's face.

1. True! It's the middle aged and younger people who look at..
the propaganda as truth. Then maybe it's a good thing that the young people don't bother to vote.

3. It may also be a good thing...
that older Americans READ as opposed to watching TV and using the Internet to get information.

4. Young voters.................
are pissed off at this as well. They see it as a tremendous burden being placed on their shoulders, so I think Chimpy looses their votes too.

2. I agree Redbear..............
the Republicans and the media are vastly overestimating the political clout this travesty of legislature carries. I can see it being of no importance or of negative value in the 2004 campaign for the Republicans. The AARP is taking a HUGE hit on this and to appease their dwindling membership will have to pull some rabbit out of their hat to get them back.

5. AARP will take a big hit for selling out. Their credibility is shot.
