What happens when you start putting your party above your nation???
If you think you might be starting to put your political party above your nation, ask yourself some questions:

Are you really a "patriot" like you claim you are, when you tell a liberal or other war-protester to get out of your country if they don't like it??

Can you really call yourself a "True American" with a straight face whenever you complain about illegal immigrants taking your job, while all non-native Americans in this country are immigrants or descentants of them, and that a good percentage of us, perhaps a majority, either came to, or had ancestors come to this land with no legal discourse??

Do you in truth, still believe you're a "True American" when you complain that the left-wing controls everything, even though the right-wing holds a controlling majority in the Excecutive branch of government, both houses of congress, the Supreme Court, the majority of governorships of the 50 states, a majority in the majority of state congresses in the US and a vast majority of control of media outlets in the US??

When you complain about this, are you proud of your belief in an American democratic republic with a congressional two-party system with majority rule, or are you proud in your belief that you want the nation to only have one political party that dominates all government, that would result in the demise of American democracy??

When you wave your American flags and sing your Lee Greenwood songs about "God bless the USA", when you misleadingly tell your friends that the war is going well, are you showing your loyalty to The United States Of America, or the Republican Party??

When you tell someone who is against the war that they're a traitor, are you still indebtted in the belief that you cherish your country more than anyone else, and not your political beliefs that someone else might not agree with you in??

And last, but not least: When you hold your banners high telling us to "Support Our Troops", are you doing this in the name of uniting Americans to support the war, or are you doing this because you support a war based on the partisan beliefs of men whom you share them with??

Think hard about it. Someone who values his or her politics above their nation is not a "patriot" at all. They're certainly not a true American in my book.

Are you a proud citizen of The United States of Republicania???

1. It's a Two-Way Street
I agree with most of what you say; I'm sick of Republicans telling me to move somewhere else if I don't like it here, too.

But many liberals also put their party above everything else. I think most Democrats and Greens would rather die than show any interest in reforming public education. Many of the spats between Dems and Greens around the last presidential campaign had more to do with bruised egos than anything substantial.

To put it another way, conservatives call me a traitor if I don't support Bush, Democrats call me a traitor if I don't support their party against Bush, and Greens - well, they usually just crawl away and hide when I try to talk to them.

2. I'm all for reforming public education.
As long as the reforming isn't privitizing education. I already know that education isn't something that one can sell to the lowest bidder, therefore privitizing would degrade our educational system and make it more expensive for everyone, especially the poor who would be left out totally at the bottom of that slippery slope.

4. But education reform means more than fighting school choice...
In fact, I tend to support school choice IN THEORY. In actual practice, EVERYTHING in education is rigged.

Liberals who really want to reform education should be attacking the National Education Association and Bill Gates. But they won't, because they consider the NEA an ally, and Bill Gates - well, no one messes with Microshaft.

5. I'm not sure I understand your statement...
You say I can't compare..

1. What Repugs have done to this country

2. What Dems have not PREVENTED them from doing to this country

Democrats have largely given Republicans a free ride. I believe that's why we have a website called Democratic UNDERGROUND.

If you focus on public education, it's even uglier: Democrats were stomping public education into oblivion even before George W. Bush got elected.

6. An analogy............
most males of the species (and quite a few females as well) identify with a certain "team", professional sports wise. This is their "team", weither they suck in a particular season or are on top of the heap. If every official's call doesn't go their way, they bitch and moan that they were robbed. It's Americans' ovine mentality, they love following, being told what to think as to avoid complex thought processes.

Even thought the fans are in no way truly involved in the performance of the team, they still identify themselves as the "twelfth man" in football, or having the "homefield" advantage because they are in attendance.

Sports owners (in this case Republicans) love these "fans" because they sell them overpriced tickets and merchandise to part them with their money. Then they usually screw them into the ground by fielding a pitiful team (once in a while winning the "Superbowl", the Presidency) but for the most part the fans are thought of as useful fools.

Bottom line; most people are sheep and love it that way. They'll put all of their trust in the shepard, even as he leads them to the slaughter.

Maybe I'm mistaken. It's 2:50 AM and I can't sleep. I've found this common since the selection of Bush as our pResident.
