Will Bush be on the ballot in Illinois?
Have there been any new developments with this story? The Gooper Convention will formally coronate..er, nominate Bush after the Illinois filing deadline. The Goopers had asked the Illinois State Board of Elections to move up the deadline, special just for them. The ISBE had asked for an opinion from the Illinois Attorney General, Lisa Madigan (D). Has anyone heard any recent news about this story?

1. Same thing in AL or AR
Not sure whether it was Alabama or Arkansas, but the same issue was going on there. Both stories disappeared from the news.

Which to me mean the GOP already bribed all the appropriate people, and Bush will get whatever he wants, regardless of what the law says.

2. Our new Dem AG...
Has yet to decide, but she's indicated that she'd be in favor allowing it. Her "sense" is that the 'spirit' of the law should allow it...

3. what a crock
the "spirit" of the law? why even have a law if the spirit of it is that its details are meaningless?
and the RW hot-air bags--Limbaugh, Boortz, and the local talking "heads"--are always saying Democrats twist the laws to suit themselves!! If the Democrats tried to do this the fuss that'd ensue would put even Kobe Bryant on a back burner, newswise.
what's wrong with the stinking asshole repukes that they can't just do what they're supposed to do within the deadline? it's become obvious that their "tie-in" with 9/11 isn't going to win them any great points and in fact might turn people off. what a bunch of clueless losers. the only way they can get their anti-human, pro-greed agenda in place is by twisting the rules, rigging the ballot boxes, and constantly hyping their lies.
sounds like that AG needs to evolve a spine. I'd love to see someone tell BushCo to go pound sand and play by the rules like everybody else has to.

4. The Illinois Libertarian Party will file suit...
This may get tied up in the courts. The GOP has been really dastardly in their efforts to keep the Libertarians off the ballot, and the Libertarians want payback.

Good for them.

Any party deserves a fair shot to get on the ballot when they obey the laws; Libertarians, Communists, Greens, Solidarity (used to be a Party here,) Dems, etc.

The GOP is in violation of the law here, and so does NOT deserve a fair shot!

Perhaps we need a letter-writing campaign??? What could we do to keep Bush OFF the Illinois Ballot???

5. I hope he isn't
I don't think any states should have to bend over for Bush just because they want to exploit whatever is left from 9/11.

6. Bush Family Doesn't Like To Go By The Rules, So Change Them
lawmakers! You're either with him or agains 'murka!

infact, why don't we just pass a law that says no democrats are allowed to run for office, ever?

repukes are such whining cry babies. 168 of AWOL's judicial nominees approved, but they whine over 4. blah blah blah.. cry cry cry!

7. as usual Dems in all of these states
caved and even though Bush's campaign knew they would have a ballot issue they decided to hold their convention to cash in on 9/11 anniversary in NYC--democratic officeholders in California, Illinois,Alabama, and West Virginia decided to take the high road. I wonder if the Republicans would have if the shoe were on the other foot? I doubt it.

8. Bush is going to lose big in Illinois
So I guess it really wouldn't matter if he were on the ballot or not.

9. Question...can Bush just get sigs on a petition, pay the fee
and be on the ballot?

It seems like a legal avenue for the "Illinois" repuglican party to have its candidate on the ballot, without usurping the big shew in NYC.
