50% of registered voters want Bush out - 44% want him in
If these numbers hold true, there is a good chance the Dems could not only win the WH but also, win back the House and possibly the Senate.

<snip>
NEW YORK (AFP) - Fifty percent of registered US voters do not want President George W. Bush (news - web sites) re-elected to a second term, and 44 percent do, according to a Newsweek poll.

A month ago, the poll showed those for and against another Bush term split evenly.

Of the 1,002 voting age Americans polled November 6-7, only 14 percent said they were very confident the United States would succeed in establishing a stable, long-term democratic government in Iraq (news - web sites), 36 percent said they were somewhat confident, 26 percent were not very confident and 21 percent, not at all.

A majority 53 percent thought the United States does not have a well-thought-out plan for post-war Iraq, 60 percent said their government was spending far too much money there, 75 percent were afraid the US would get bogged down in Iraq for many years without favorable results, and 54 percent thought too many US troops were in Iraq and should be brought home.

1. Sigh....
When the polls are against us...people state not to pay them any
attention.
When they favor our position, we get all giddy with joy... :eyes:

3. And it's pretty much split along the whole IQ Bell Curve.
The 90-and-lower crowd are very loyal to their own. Dubya, Reagan, they just won't even lose faith in a fellow-dunce. Solidarity and stuff.

:P

4. We're nowehere near close enough to win
With the way the deck is stacked against Democrats, a double digit majority is the only way we're ever going to win again.

Even then , it's doubtful.

8. I agree
When Bush's numbers get below 40%, then I'll get a little excited. Wasn't Poppy Bush below 30% in 1991, and he lost a pretty close election eventually.

5. When will we hear "this unpopular president"
or "this hated president?" We had to listen to "this popular president" a million times. George W. Bush is now the most hated man alive and the media is covering for him.

12. See post #10 for additional... but Bush is still very popular...
Bush is still very popular. 44% is a lot of people and, if we were a rational people, his numbers would be closer to 20%. Much like how Gray Davis got down to 22%, why the frick does Bush have TWICE that? x( x( x( Our country's people are fucking deluded if they support this crackpot fascist.

And the fact anybody wants this guy in power speaks volumes against us and the whole of civilization.

20. Why??
Well, bush has about 25% maybe 30%, who are the base RW nuts of their party. That leaves 15-20% of marginally informed voters who LIKE him. Just like they LIKED Ronnie. What worries me, is the 6% who 'don't know'. Will those idiots go vote??? I hope not.

7. I Have A Feeling ShrubCo Is Going To Pull Something
To try to boost the polls and if it backfires, the trend will sharply accelerate downwards. There is just too much graft and incompetence in the misadministration to let Dimbo get away with much.

10. Says a lot about the 44% who still want Bush in...
44% is still quite a number.

And every single one of them disgusts me for their sheer stupidity. x(

13. Yeah but ...remember when we were
only 10%? I'm sure you were one of the 10% club..I know I was~

We've come a long long way. When 90% thought bush was the cat's pajamas.

Those 44%(if true) are die hards who need a personal experience with bush's America.

14. Watched part of the Miami book fair on C-span yesterday
whose guest speakers included Howard Zinn. Perhaps it is a more literary crowd, but regardless of the speaker or the subject, any negative mention of the current resident of the White House was met with a spirited ovation.

The course is not to 'stand shoulder to shoulder', but full steam ahead with putting the Bush cabal on the defense.

15. The 44%
I've heard them on Mike Malloy's show when he let's them on. "tell me what Bush has done for you or your family?" silence, then "he brought honor and integrity back to the White House". Then Mike goes in for the kill! It really is great. Freepers, do you feel lucky? Well do ya punk?
