Prescott Bush was a Nazi-whore, but his father Samuel was worse (WWI)
The Bush family has been starting wars for nearly a century.

Samuel Prescott Bush (1863 October 4 Brick Church NJ - 1948 February 8 Columbus OH) was the father of Senator Prescott Bush, grandfather of George H. W. Bush and greatgrandfather George W. Bush.

He was the son of the Rev. James Smith Bush.

The Grand Patriarch of the Bush clan founded the Buckeye Steel Castings Company of Ohio in 1894 as The Buckeye Malleable Iron & Coupler Company. They manufactured steel car couplers for trains, truck bodies, bolsters, truck fenders, yokes, and (among other things) made railway parts for the Harrimans. The two families were closely associated at least until the end of World War II. Samuel, as did all the other Industrialists of the time, grew very wealthy and influential.

He was the first president of National Manufacturers Association, and cofounder of Scioto Country Club and Columbus Academy.

In the spring of 1918, Bush became chief of the Ordnance, Small Arms and Ammunition Section of the War Industries Board of Bernard Baruch and Clarence Dillon, with national responsibility for government assistance to and relations with Remington and other weapons companies.BUsh was essentially taking national responsibility for government assistance to his own Remington Arms Company and other weapon makers. Through these weapons manufacturers, Samuel Bush made and sold arms to 75% of the WWI combatants on both sides.

Senate hearings in 1934 by the Nye committee attacked the Merchants of Deathwar profiteers such as Remington Arms and the British Vickers companywhose salesmen had manipulated many nations into war and then supplied weapons to all sides.

Unfortunately most of the records and correspondence of Bush's arms-related section of the government have been burned to save space in the National Archives.

:evilfrown:****How convenient...**** :evilfrown:

Tarpley and Chaitkin say:

"With the war mobilization conducted under the supervision of the War Industries Board, U.S. consumers and taxpayers showered unprecedented fortunes on war producers and certain holders of raw materials and patents. Hearings in 1934 by the committee of U.S. Senator Gerald Nye attacked the "Merchants of Death", war profiteers such as Remington Arms and the British Vickers company, whose salesmen had manipulated many nations into wars, and then supplied all sides with the weapons to fight them. Most of the records and correspondence of Samuel Bush's arms- related section of the government have been burned, "to save space" in the National Archives. This matter of destroyed or misplaced records should be of concern to citizens of a constitutional republic. Unfortunately, it is a rather constant impediment with regard to researching George Bush's background: He is certainly the most "covert" American chief executive."

Samuel Bush was labeled a "Merchant of Death" in the years following the Great War as investigations began into the instigators of the war and of the new emerging world militarism. The German Army under the Kaiser was the largest and most well armed in the world in 1914, and they were largely armed by Samuel Bush. After WWI, Germany was stripped of their arms, but Samuel Bush was allowed to keep his millions, and his arms business was allowed to grow and prosper. In 1944 he was awarded a huge government contract to make armor casings for WWII. He died shortly after the war ended in 1948, within months of the passage of the National Security Act.

The empire of Evil.

THE BUSH EMPIRE

How four generations of arms, oil, fascism, and US Govt. defiance made America's First Family

by Charles Shaw

"Almost everybody knows that George W. is the son of the 41st President. But fewer know that the family has wielded power in corporate boardrooms and capital corridors for a century and a half. On his mom's side, he's related to Franklin Pierce, the 14th President (1853-57). His dad's paternal grandfather, Samuel P. Bush, was an Ohio steel executive and the first president of the National Association of Manufacturers. Samuel's son, Prescott, became a Connecticut senator. Prescott's wife, Dorothy, was the daughter of George Herbert Walker, a co-founder of Brown Brothers Harriman, the oldest and largest private investment house on Wall Street. The Walker family helped finance the construction of Madison Square Garden and the Belmont Park racetrack--and later owned a big chunk of the New York Mets"

--Business Week, Nov 15, 1999

The previous quote embodies the public face of the Bush family, one of the richest and most influential American political dynasties in all our history. But it is almost shocking how little people actually know about the Bush family, particularly the history of the Bush men. I thought we might look beneath the veneer at the true face of America's political dynasty.

I am going to open with a story that is guaranteed to blow your hair back. This is a story that has been impossible to confirm in the mainstream press. Of course, this is part of the whole story, and why curiously the story keeps surfacing and disappearing all over the Internet. At the very least, this story is referred to enough to qualify as a modern legend. This is the extraordinary story of a dinner date that was scheduled to happen on March 31st 1981, the day of the strange assassination attempt on the life of former President Ronald Reagan. What should have been the biggest story of the 1980's seems to have been wiped clean from history, systematically prevented from ever again being mentioned by corporate media.

all did what they did for something other than JUST MONEY.

Never thought I would ever say that. But at least they fought their wars for principles. SICK PRINCIPLES......but principles, nonetheless!

Not the Bush family......money, guns and the sweet smell of death.

Is this what CAPITALISM is, btw?

4. Old money usually seems to have old blood on it.
It's really kind of funny when you think about how most of the aristocratic families founded their fortunes. The RW says that having money means that someone worked harder to get it than us average shlubs, but it usually seems to mean that someone was more ruthless than the average shlub. It all kind of makes Bill Gates' marketing tactics seem pretty mild, doesn't it?

It's like Jet fuel here. Like Espresso in a bigger cup. And no, I wasn't in one of the infamous Dutch 'Coffee' shops twisting a pot cannon when I funneled the coffee down the gullet and the caffeine into the brain.

I am wearing wooly socks near the heater (why don't they believe in central heating here?) watching golden leaves fly off my tree and smelling the pea soup aging aging nicely in a hot pot for tonight's perfect chilly wet autumn meal.

In my eyes, there has never been a family that has done so much damage - nearly 100 years of war profiteering from the deaths of millions. As we edge into Alvin Toffler's Third Wave and the rise of the information age over the industrial - history will not look kindly upon the legacy of the Bush family.

Unless they take control of the age of information.

It's really up to the so call "Gen X" (my age group) generation to stop it.

For the most part we've had it "OK" and now we're finally feeling a little hurt. The natural Libertarian mindset, due to a lack of faith in US institutions like SS & Medicare as well as a zero relationship with contratual employers, will be challenged and my biggest hope is that "we" will turn toward a more humane economic relationship.

The "Industrialists" will flex their muscle and wreck our parent's social contract. I believe that might be the straw that breaks our group apathy.

One can only hope...No. One can educate, agitate & organise...

Children of the year of love. 1967.

Watching much of the old anti-establishment (Horowitz, Miller, etc) bend over for the enemy now aren't we?

It is weird - I had hippy liberal parents... we had the VW Van, the token Beetle, no TV, lots of books. Then came the seventies (Altmont Speedway) and the locks were chopped, and everything suddenly got tacky.

Lucky I was young enough to miss the full brunt of the era of polyester and full-on Disco, no I was still a kid. Got a little on the fringe when I turned 12 and made dad buy me a burgundy three piece cordoroy suit with platform coca cola shoes for the big finale prom from elementary to high school. He cringed then. I cringe now.

The 80's... things started to change in little ways. The van got sold and they bought a Rabbit convertible. The bug was passed on to me. A TV appeared in our house and all the cool fish tanks migrated down to the basement. The ethno tie-dye stuff was replace by leather and steel, my parents became worried about image and taxes and money, and making money, and making more money.

Dad and I stopped playing chess, othello, cribbage, and quit sharing the newspaper - some the nice things that families do when they don't have a 'home enertainment system'. Our nuclear family built on strong and fair liberal values was shifting.

We did not have the Internet. We had Pong. And Donkey Kong and Pac Man and those little handheld football games with blinking red lights.

Punk was still pretty cool in the eighties but that's what happens when you grow up in the wild west. Mullets were all the rage in terms of hair styles. Velour came in and out quick thank god. And remember all the shiny stuff? The silvery space suit like jackets?

Or how about hanging around 7-11? And bumming around the liquor store on the weekend trying to get somebody to buy some beers for you? Thank god we did not grow up with this new abstinance, Patriot act influenced no sex thingy. No aids in those days either. Being a teen in lust and love was fun in those days. We weren't looking at women and donkeys on the net. It was all good clean fun.

We had the Violent Femmes, Phil Collins, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Billy Idol, John Cougar Mellencamp, Pink Floyd, Police, Alan Parsons Project, the Rolling Stones, Soft Cell, Rod Stewart, and the Thompson Twins... to name a few.

It is 5 am in Holland. What am I doing up? Man, its time for the sack!

Peace Bro.

39. WWI and the Arm's Merchants
The old story that arms merchants somehow forced or tricked the US and other countries into WWI was debunked by Historians back in the 1950s. The 1930's "Devil Theory" that motivated the Nye Committee about the war was more a product of the time than of serious historical research.

Having said that, it doesn't change the fact that some men used the war to their personal advantage, and the fact that a Bush was among them doesn't surprise me in the least.

Edited on Mon Nov-03-03 10:31 AM by dutchdemocrat
Can you offer any more information on who debunked the 'arms merchants' manipulation of the US and other countries prior to WWI? What historians in the 1950's proved otherwise, who were they? And why was the 'devil theory' that motivated the Nye committee about the war more of a 'product of the time' rather than serious historical research. Are you saying Nye was using it as a political tool, rather than trying to bring out the truth?

On one hand you credit historians in the 50's for disproving the 'old story' and on the other, you discredit Senator Gerald Nye leading senate hearings attacking the "Merchants of Death" - the war profiteers such as Remington Arms and the British Vickers company.

I am sure Nye was not popular for pushing the hearings. Of course there are people of power whose interest was to debunk his case and his credibility.

I wish you would respond with more hard facts and links rather than hyperbole so we can better understand that particular dark era of American history and the roots of the modern industrial military complex that exists today.

Edited on Mon Nov-03-03 01:34 PM by WoodrowFan
Nye was sincere but simply wrong. As for those historians who debunked the "Devil Theory", you can read Edward Buehrig, Ernest May, Arthur Link or Robert Osgood. Arthur Link is especially good as he specialized in Woodrow Wilson and is very readable. These authors themselves have been debated and soem of thier ideas are no longer in vogue, but historians of WWI and the US have long since moved beyond the "Devil Theory." If you wish, I'll supply specific titles when I get the chance.

WF

BTW, as I noted above, this doesn't mean that Bush's family didn't profit from the war, or that they are not a very sleezy family.

For those unfamiliar with world history: the unsolved problems from World War I helped give rise to Communism in Russia, the rise of Fascism in Italy and Germany, the conditions for World War 2, and the economically disastrous Cold War, and today's War on Terror.

What ties all of these together? Greed. And death.

47. The Hinckley Thing
I have a feeling that John Hinckley is a nut, however, the fact that the connection between the Hinckley clan and the Bush clan were well connected is one of the most under-reported stories of the last century. Seriously.

The fact that the Hinckley's and the Bush's hung out together, the kids went to each others houses as teens in Texas, the fact that Hinckley senior was a heavy financer of Bush's 1980 run against Reagan, the fact that Scott was to have dinner with Neil Bush the evening John attempted to kill Reagan is a fascinating story.

We aren't supposed to know this. It doesn't matter if it's a great stinking coincidence, we were not allowed to know that the person who most directly would benefit from Reagan dying, personally knew the assasin, and had the assasin in his own house is absolutely mind boggling.

Reagan got his way on tax cuts, but let's remember especially post assasination attempt, foreign policy was run by George H.W. Bush. His guys were put in charge. There shouldn't just be an article, but there should be a long freaking book on Reagan being shot and the Bush clan's ties to the shooter.

When the Bush's met the Hinckley's. How many dollars Hinckley gave Bush. How often the kids met with one another, went to each others homes. How much time specifically did Hinckley spend with George Bush Sr. Even if Hinckley was just a nut, could it possibly be that one of his motives for shooting Reagan was to help out the guy who invited him to the house for lemonade and sandwiches.

What happened to the media? They knew. They knew the connections. What pressures were brought to bear. I would love to hear what Rather, Jennings, Brokaw would say privately on what they were told about how they could report these facts.

I would guarantee you that at least 95% of americans have no clue that Reagan's would be assasin spent time in the Bush home. Bringing just this fact to bear would be a revelation to most.

50. The Osama Thing
Like the strange coincidence with the Hinkley clan, the Bushes and the bin Ladens have crossed paths. Seems, just like in the oil and arms biz, there's plenty of money to be made in terror. And drugs.

THE BUSH SAUDI CONNECTION

Jihad

EXCERPT...

The Wahhabi Taliban in Afghanistan had the blessings of the Saudi royal family and of The Big Three--the bin Laden family, the al Ahmoudi family, and the Mahfouz family--the richest clans in that medieval kingdom. (A C.I.A. official testified to Congress that Khalid bin Mahfouz is bin Ladens brother-in-law). The desert oligarchs profited from world-wide investments as well as sleazy banking schemes such as the infamous Bank of Credit and Commerce International.

Salem bin Laden, Osamas brother, has conducted all his American affairs through James Bath, a Houston crony of the Bush family. Baths former business partner Bill White testified in court that Bath had been a liaison for the C.I.A. In 1979 Bath invested $50,000 in Arbusto, George W. Bushs first business venture. Rumor had it that Bath was acting as Salem bin Ladens representative. "In conflicting statements, Bush at first denied ever knowing Bath, then acknowledged his stake in Arbusto and that he was aware Bath represented Saudi interests." (4)

In addition to doing aviation business with Saudi sheiks, Bath was part owner of a Houston bank whose chief stockholder was Ghaith Pharaon, who represented the Bank of Commerce and Credit International (BCCI), a criminal global bank with branches in 73 countries. BCCI proceeded to defraud depositors of $10 billion during the 80s, while providing a money laundry conduit for the Medellin drug cartel, Asias major heroin cartel, Manuel Noriega, Saddam Hussein, the C.I.A., and Islamist terrorist organizations worldwide. (5)

Big Three wheeler-dealer Khalid bin Mahfouz, one of the largest stockholders in the criminal bank, was indicted when the massive BCCI banking scandal blew apart in the early 1990s. The Saudi royal family placed him under house arrest after discovering that Mahfouz had used the royal bank to channel millions of dollars through fake charities into bin Ladens organizations, but Mahfouz was not so much punished as inconvenienced. (6)

Members of the Wahhabist Saudi oligarchy are driven by the sometimes conflicting emotions of power lust and religious fervor. Their support of radical Islamists follows from their ambition to dominate the Muslim world, but their fear that radical Islamists might overthrow the Saudi regime at home motivates them to fund and encourage holy warriors in countries other than their own.

51. Undecided about the Hinckley case, but there are
some odd things about the near-assassination that point to a transition of power taking place and the purposeful accendancy of Bush. Like, for instance, the code books for SAC bomber pilots happened to be missing that day, like they were missing Nov 22 1963. If they were intentionally removed, it was likely to prevent triggering a nuclear war by a kneejerk response to the killing of a president.

A lot more here. Interesting reading:
