Michael Moore vs. Joe Scarborough (Lori Klausutis)
Is Scarborough getting ready to sue Moore? Scanning the tube last night, I stopped on MSGOP because beady-eyed Joe was talking Michael Moore with radio wingnut, Lars Larson.

Larson is accusing Moore of giving out his phone number and because of that, Larson has been receiving death threats.

But the interesting part was what Scarborough said about Moore ...

SCARBOROUGH: Well, you know what? I cant even say on the air right now because there may be a legal issue involved. I cant even tell you what he said to me in front of a couple different crowds. I started getting flooded with e-mails about a crime that he accused me of doing. And well reveal that later on but certainly not on tonights show, because this is about you.

Have you noticed the right-wing loons have started to rachet up the attacks on Moore lately? They're trying to malign him before the release of his next movie.

1. If Scarborough feels the attacks are unjustified
why doesn't he explain once and for all what really happened?

I wrote an e-mail to Scarborough months ago where I mentioned the Klausutis case. I didn't do so because of "Michael Moore's influence"; I did so because I heard him cracking jokes on his show about Gary Condit.

What an effing hypocrite.

4. That's the name
of the aide who was found dead in his office. Although the circumstances seem fairly suspicious, funny thing is, the press had very little to say about it, unlike the Gary Condit situation.

5. Klausutis case
http://www.americanpolitics.com/20010808Klausutis.html

(snip)

The story had a brief flutter in the Northwest Florida press, which ran a few very short stories on Lori's death. With the exception of the Northwest Florida Daily News, they were of the "Aw-what-a-shame/ nothing-to-see-here-move-along-now-folks" variety. But nationally, this mysterious death earned a mere one paragraph mention in The Washington Post's NATION IN BRIEF column:

"FORT WALTON BEACH, FL. - Lori Klausutis, a 28-year-old office worker for Rep. Joe Scarborough (R-Fl), was found dead in the congressman's district office. Police said preliminary findings from the medical examiner's office showed no foul play or any outward indication of suicide."

Unbelievably, that was it. The story was simply dropped. A young female employee of one of Florida's Congressmen had died unexpectedly in the Congressman's office. There were no witnesses to her death and the cause of death was not apparent. Klausutis' boss, Joe Scarborough had recently resigned from Congress prematurely and unexpectedly, amid rumors about his marital fidelity and soon after a divorce. He had also abruptly resigned as publisher of the Independent Florida Sun, claiming that resigning from Congress and as publisher was necessary to spend more time with his sons.

(snip)

Then, on Friday, July 20th, the body of Lori Klausutis, 28, was found slumped next to a desk on the floor of Florida Republican Congressman Joe Scarborough's Fort Walton Beach office where Lori had served as a constituent services coordinator since May, 1999. Her body was found around 8:00 a.m. on Friday morning by a couple arriving for an appointment. She had been dead for some time. A second employee, who would have normally arrived for work at around the same time, was away on vacation. Police cordoned off the area for investigation, later announcing that there was no reason to suspect foul play, nor were there signs of suicide.

Go to Google and type in "Klausutis." The results will interest you.

Lori Klausutis was on Scarborough's staff...
She was found dead in one of his offices, there has never been an explanation of what happened, that can be verified. Scarborough very quickly left Congressand got into talk radio. It is a convoluted situation, made more so by Scarborough's constant barrage of, "I don't know a thing", "or it is an open case", etc. The whole thing stinks of coverup, and Moore has the time and money to get to the bottom of things if he goes for the jugular. Scarborough, Limbaugh, O'Reilly and the other mouthpieces are afraid of Moore and Franken because they root out the truth, and then present it.

There may be more of the Klausutis thing in the future, I hope so, for now, her parents are in a situation where they have no idea what actually happened. If there was a crime, it needs to be investigated; if there was no crime, Scarborough should have little to fear.

9. Roughly, it goes like this
Joe Scarborough was re-elected in 2000. Soon after, he announced he was getting a divorce, and there were allegations that he was having an affair. Of course, he denied this. But soon after that, he shocked everyone by announcing that he was retiring, despite his apparent skyrocketing career. His reason for retiring? To spend time with his family-- the one he had just divorced.

Soon after this, and about the same time the media was in a frenzy over Gary Condit, an intern was found dead in Scarborough's Florida office. The coroner and police chief immediately declared that there was no sign of foul play, no visible signs of trauma, and no immediate cause of death. The Florida media began circulating a story that she had a heart condition and was subject to seizures because of an accident. When this story was refuted by the media, Scarborough personally began phoning members of the media and asking them to stop reporting this.

The coroner stalled on the cause of death, until one day he announced it would take about two more weeks for toxicology tests to be concluded, and he wouldn't know until then. Despite this, the next day he announced her actual cause of death. She had suffered a heart arythmia, just like Bush and his pretzel. The arythmia caused her to collapse, striking her head against the side of a desk. This blow to the head was forceful enough to drive her brain against the other side of her skull, which caused bleeding, which eventually killed her.

When asked the obvious question about how both he and the police failed to notice such a blow to the head, he said that he noticed, but that he told the media that there was no sign of violence because "we had a dead girl in the office, and didn't want people asking twenty questions about a head wound." Apparently, that included preventing investigators from asking questions.

Turns out the coroner had been fired in Michigan for falsifying reports, and reinstated in Florida.

When the media was asked who had been the source of the initial story of Lori's seizures, they were told Scarborough. Scarborough himself was in DC at the time of Lori's death, as was her husband.

So there are a lot of questions about her death. At the very least, Scarborough was more interested in heading off any questions than in determining whether his aide was murdered (keep in mind there was no way to know for sure she had not been murdered, and yet he spread stories to imply she wasn't, anyway). At worst he had her killed. There is evidence that she died slowly, and some argue that this slow death is proof that she could not have been murdered because no one would leave her alive if they were trying to kill her. But the evidence of the lingering death can be interpreted other ways as well.

Anyway, that's it in the nutshell. Scarborough is a piece of garbage, and possibly a murderer. At the very least, he helped obfuscate evidence of a possible crime.

2. This might be about
Michael Moore's new website that might still be under construction. He started it in retaliation for Scarborough's show entitled "Michael Moore Hates America" stating as fact, rather than in question format. Since Michael had no chance for debate or rebuttal, he's started a website entitled JoeScarboroughkilledhisaide.com (I think that's the name). Should be interesting.

8. Moore talked about it in Wooster
But he DID say thathe didn't know if Scarborough killed her...but he used it as a point that when a dead iuntern shows up in a Repub office, you don't hear much about it.

And he was right....but he NEVER accused him of killing her. There's several thousand witnesses to that.

10. Hopefully Moore will be sued for libel
Then, Scarborough would have to prove he did not kill Klausitus in order to prove libel against Moore. He may not have killed her, but he certainly tried to prevent anyone from investigating a potential murder with his obstruction. That would be nice to see revealed.

12. Rethugs like to threaten. They're both millionaires and both would have
to talk under oath. If Scarborough is fool enough to
go after Michael, more power to him. Of course, he'll
need an ass transplant right afterwards.

Last thing he wants is to be under oath. Well, the last thing would be under anesthesia...

Edited on Fri Oct-31-03 09:32 PM by otohara
his intern.

Scarborough is always saying MM Hates America, so this is Michael Moores voice since he doesn't have a big TV show like JS.

Also, it's to bring attention to the death of this young intern, which as we all know was completely ignored by the SCLM (so called liberal media)

19. RW loons are ratcheting up the attacks on Moore
They have gotten their marching orders.

I read that Moore's film would be ready for release in Fall 2003. I'm sure this is part of the plan to discredit him.

I am not a Moore groupie by a long shot. I was especially pissed off at him during his Nader run.

I agree with the poster who stated that this is Scarborough "posturing" - he's a little chickenshit, beady-eyed, thin-lipped bushwipe - and he would never want the Lori Klausutis case out in the public's eye.

I still believe that Scarborough helped Jeb in Nov. 2000 and Lori found something out that she wasn't suppose to.

Any light that can be shown on this case is good, IMO. Lori's murder deserves it!:nuke:
