Yesterday, "Democracy Now" broadcast a Michael Moore talk at a San Francisco college last Monday (Oct 20). He started talking about how Joe Scarborough had a show called "Michael Moore Hates America." Moore, of course, was outraged. So he began researching Joe Scarborough on the web and, of course, soon found the story of Lori Klausitis (sp?), Joe Scarborough's young female employee, who was found dead on the floor of his office during Scarborough's last few weeks in Congress. DUers will know this story, of course, but Moore at least pretended to have only recently learned of it.

In any case, Moore went on a rant about how Scarborough's show wasn't entitled "Does Michael Moore Hate America?" as a debatable question but rather "Michael Moore Hates America" as an irrefutable truth. Therefore, after Moore discovered the dead intern story, he bought the domain name JoeScarboroughKilledHisIntern.com and that it should be on-line within a couple weeks. (I just checked and got an "under development" page but I also checked it under domain registries and the domain name is not available.)

It sounded as though Michael was trying to bait Scarborough into the same kind of legal hysteria O'Reilly indulged in against Al Franken. In any case, I think this is a GREAT development & we need to get this website spread around when it appears so that Scarborough won't be able to ignore it.

It appalls me to say it, but Michael really does have his head up his ass. No doubt he is fully qualified and talented enough to ridicule the media monkeys and corporate frontmen, but, he DOES NOT have the right to judge Mumia "guilty" (particularly in light of the currently available information including sworn confessions from the actual killer), and make that proclamation publicly in such a way that it might influence other impressionable and equally uninformed minds.
When I heard his grade school prank reply to Scarborough's hate speech, it occurred to me I may have to buy this domain name and ridicule one stupid white man in particular. He has no exuse for what he has done, it is only a matter of time before anyone that mediocre cuts off their other leg(s) and has nothing left to stand on.

Hey, what he said was stupid, possibly racist. At first, I refused to believe it was true that he said such a thing. He needs to make amends. He needs to show the honesty and responsibility that he wants to hold others accountable for. It isnt my outrage that will weaken his influence, it will be his own missteps. it never was, and if a body were found in my place of business, you can be pretty sure there would be an awful lot of questions.

While I do not like Scarborough, or any of his rantings, it seems toi me that he basically got a ride on this one. He was a known carouser, and tht in itself should have raised red flags. He may very well be innocent of anything that happened, but without an investigation, the famiy of Klasutis will never know the truth.
