Analysis: Rice Sees Political Star on Rise

WASHINGTON - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has become the most popular member of the Bush administration and a potential candidate to succeed her boss in the White House, even as Americans lose confidence in the president she serves and patience with the Iraq war she helped launch.

Entering her second year as the country‘s senior diplomat and foreign policy spokeswoman, Rice has improbably shed much of her image as the hawkish "warrior princess" at President Bush ‘s side. The nickname was reportedly bestowed by her staff at the White House National Security Council, where Rice was an intimate member of Bush‘s first-term war council.

(snip)

A Pew Research survey in October found that 60 percent of respondents held either a very favorable or mostly favorable view of Rice, while 25 percent had a very or mostly unfavorable view — numbers others in the Bush administration can only envy.

This is the one person IMO that has to be stopped. There is not a more evil women/man out there!

1. She is off the media radar. If she wants to actually run for an office,

she will have plenty of time to explain things and then watch those lofty poll numbers fall like rocks raining from the sky.

4. Great news
This type of media expertise has been consistently wrong over the years with the likes McCain and Powell who elicited a lot of drool froma lot of fools. If this is the best they can do they won't even get enough heart to foist another media darling upon a rigged system.

Watch for more trial balloons for Bushista successors and, finally, a look at the less than connected second rank of crumbbums like Hagel, and, again, brownlips McCain. or it might be time for doofus Pataki
to plunge Dole-like into the mist with the last of party "moderates". I suspect that might be the case because Pataki has racked up a lot of experience doing commercials and helping credit card companies.

5. What the fuck?
She's an awful creature, one of the cynical Bush women. I think not. Yeah, put her up as the Presidential candidate for 2008. And no, she won't garner the black vote. Blacks, being in general, far wiser than their white bethren are aware of the evilness of this woman, regardless of the color of her skin.

6. That and...
I couldn't see her winning any southern states in a presidential election. I think the majority of people in that part of the country wouldn't be able to accept a black person, much less a woman as president.

7. REAL ANALYSIS : Someone wants us to think RIce is gaining popularity.
Stories planted, think tank wheels greased, RW machine churning out pro-RIce propaganda, news media failing in critical thinking. AGAIN.

15. Indeed! they don't bother attempting to disguise it anymore.
And more and more people are recognizing it for exactly what it is.
The idea that Condi is plausible to them is quite remarkable. "Pooling ignorance" I guess.
It is useful to see who is stooging for them though.

8. Not in my lifetime, Rice as prez?
Here in the good ole' USA, a black man might be elected president, but that would happen way before the election of a woman....of any color or ethnicity.

Just my gut feeling, living life on the edge in a RED state. Yuck.

10. I am a Xena fan--and the likening of 'warrior princess" to Rice drives
me nuts!

11. Being the most popular person in the Bush administration doesn't
really count for much; that's like saying Spiro Agnew was popular under Nixon. Who cares? This is a ridiculous planted story. No redneck (i.e., Bush's base) is ever going to vote for Condi; that's just a fact.

12. AP IS A BUSHCO MOUTHPIECE!!!!!
Tell everyone you know. They have consistently run pro Bush and BushCo slanted stories. These stories get picked up by Gannett's putrid newspaper chain and others as well.
