As Christmas 2005 comes to a close...
Edited on Sun Dec-25-05 10:47 PM by Hissyspit
I post again the 35-year-old photograph I posted at the beginning of this day, early this morning as I prepared Christmas dinner for the gathering of many members of my family.

Happy Christmas. War Is Over IF YOU WANT IT.

Not just the Vietnam war over, John and Yoko communicated through billboard and song, but WAR, all war. And, possibly more significantly, they added, "If you want it."
They were striving to make clear to American citizens and all citizens of the world: "You must want it. It is in your hands."

Yes, I realize I am "preaching to the choir" when I quote John and Yoko here. But many people read messages on this board. This has been an extreme year, but a year of increasing hope, and the need for the hope continues - therefore the 35-year-old photograph. (Also, I love John's solo stuff and I <3 NY!)

Seasons Greetings to all my friends at democraticunderground.com and Best Wishes for the New Year...

1. I love that billboard
I cut it out of a magazine and taped it to a collage...it's on my wall right now.

I never walked the same earth as John Lennon (I was born in 83) but his message is so relevant to me and to our times. Everyone should open their ears to it.

2. I miss you John

So this is Christmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
Ans so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young

A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas
For weak and for strong
For rich and the poor ones
The world is so wrong
And so happy Christmas
For black and for white
For yellow and red ones
Let's stop all the fight
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas
And what have we done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
Ans so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
War is over over
If you want it
War is over
Now...
