Fox News host tied to white supremacist group, anti-King site (Snow)

As yesterday's revelation that a Fox network television affiliate promoted a white supremacist organization leads to greater scrutiny of the group, it has emerged that a Fox News host is also tied to the same organization. While perusing another site hosted by Stormfront.org, blogger IntoxiNation discovered material written by Fox News radio and television host Tony Snow.

Snow, then a columnist for Detroit News, wrote a piece slamming Kwanzaa, which is currently hosted by a website dedicated to discrediting Martin Luther King, Jr.

Snow's dissection of Kwanzaa takes a strange turn, focusing eventually on war crimes in an attempt to argue that African-Americans should not celebrate their cultural heritage:

Tony Snow currently hosts The Tony Snow Show on FOX News Radio and Weekend Live with Tony Snow on the Fox News Channel. It is unclear if he or his publisher granted permission for use on the Stormfront site.

Nobody ever ennobled a people with a lie or restored stolen dignity through fraud. Kwanzaa is the ultimate chump holiday -- Jim Crow with a false and festive wardrobe. It praises practices -- "cooperative economics, and collective work and responsibility" -- that have succeeded nowhere on earth and would mire American blacks in endless backwardness.

Kwanzaa is not a call to socialism or communism no matter how ham fistedly he tries to spin it. What is it with these reich wingers that any form of cooperation or urging of social responsibility is immediately equated with cloaked Marxism? Do they not realize that the US is full of "cooperative economics"? I guess they have forgotten about the post office, mass transit, the highway and interstate system, etc. I wonder is he counts groups like the Jaycees, Salvation Army, Goodwill, and thousands of church groups as promoting "collective work and responsibility"? None of those things must count though because "they have succeeded nowhere on earth.

12. Cooperative economics has been successful EVERYWHERE it's

been tried, as far as I know. I don't know what those who celebrate Kwanzaa mean for sure, but I'm not talking about either socialism or communism. I'm thinking wonderful "we're all in this together" tribal economics. It's like the original socialism/communism. We all succeed or fail; you belong to the tribe and the tribe belongs to you; one for all and all for one; your survival depends on the tribe and theirs on you; cooperative interdependence.

The kind of "economics" we have now makes sense only if you need to be better than others and you think the most important way to keep score of that is via money -- and too many do. Where cooperation instead of competition are shared community values, it's a different picture.
