Why are our leaders intentionally destroying civilization?
Notice how our leaders are purposely bringing civilization to its knees...I'm mean environmentally, economically, public health neglect, creating chaos through division on a national level and never-ending war internationally, continued use of energy resources that destroy the planet instead of putting everything we got into developing a new energy source, ect, ect,ad infinium...the powers that be aren't stupid they know where all this is leading...the death of civilization. Some of the problems I've mentioned have been around for years and they have let them go on, other problems they have intentionally created. Why would they do this? What is their plan? The only things I can come up with sounds like totally insane conspiracy theories. Do they see we have too many people and not enough resources so they will let it all end while they go underground until its safe to come up and start anew? Yes, our gov't does have deep underground bunkers where a select few could go to weather it out. Sure its sounds crazy but what would you do if you were in their shoes? If you saw it was all coming apart at the seams and no real solutions in sight, would you throw up your hands and say oh well I guess we are all doomed or would you try to devise a plan that would continue our species(not to mention save your own skin)? I used to be of the opinion that greed had totally blinded them and caused them to do the things they do but come on...at some point you gotta say,"hey what good is my money if we destroy our economy or poison the earth beyond repair." Has this administration finally made me totally flip my wig or am I making sense here?

1. Rapture
If you believe you're about to rise into heaven, none of this matters. In fact, if this helps hasten the rapture, all the better.

That's why their mind-set is so absolutely freakin' scary.

3. Neocon rapture. Same thing. Only a few people thrive in the end in
some sort of economic heaven.

4. Their philosophy has always been "survival of the fittest"...
they want all of us "weaklings" to die off. Their stance on social programs is proof that they are "cleansing" the US of any people that are not "of the fittest" group. Just look at the way they treated NO and the hurricane stricken areas.

5. Many of these individuals aren't religious at all. They believe they
will destroy everything and then rebuild it in their image. They don't seem to comprehend most if not all of their created destruction and damage will be virtually irreversible. They are destroying air, water and land. I don't need to explain to DUers that all three of these precious little components are vital to our existence and our survival.

Where's the disconnect for these individuals?

6. Read David Brocks "The Republican Noise Machine"
Edited on Fri Dec-23-05 12:58 AM by Protagoras
he draws a pretty clear line back to the anti-desegregation/Goldwater movement...where people like Edith Efron and RM Scaife etc founded a whole system which, with the help of utter maggots like Grover Norquist and Willy Kristol have essentially adopted WW2 German and Communist tactics because they are dedicated to a set of anacronistic ideologies so extreme it would make our heads spin. Really, you have to look past the kooky co-opting of the Xtian extremists and ask yourself how we had a Whig party...what Torries are all about etc...

There are people who, at their core, hate the idea of common people governing themselves or imposing laws and strictures on the ruling class. These people really believe they were born superior and that they've been usurped by a variety of boogeymen. Their lives are dedicated to reclaiming some lost crowns they believe they are entitled to.

Some people like Sinclair Lewis saw this back in the 1930's and felt it was a perpetual war we had to fight with our darker half...really recommend "It Can't Happen Here" as a fantastic view from the past. And heck it wasn't that long before that we fought a civil war, owned slaves, etc. We have a rich history of having groups of people who did their level best to attain Royalty status.

10. When my parents were just starting their life together,
one of the ill-fated ventures they embarked upon was raising turkeys, free range. They discovered the lesson learned by many others.
When there came a rain, the turkeys could, and often did, become so fascinated with looking up and watching the rainfall, the water would run down into their nostrils, resulting in the loss of many of the birds to drowning.
I have tentatively come to the conclusion that 98% of people are turkeys, totally incapable of recognizing a larger frame. Sad.

11. it's an impediment to maximizing profit
education has been replaced with consumerism, religion has been replaced with cynicism and fascism, science has been replaced with bombast. All these things make control of the public easier. Why control the public ? Because in the current economy, it is both the producer and the consumer of the majority of goods and services, and in order to keep the old garbage scow from capsizing and plunging to the bottom, the rodents need to be kept in the habitrails, and particular in the exercise wheel. Run, little gerbils run. Work hard, because if you do, then see this credit card ? You can use it to buy this new _CAR_ -and- this exciting entertainment center.

We have been reduced to a docile and malleable public which provides useful units of production and consumption for enterprises which have been optimized to maximize profit (i.e., revenue after production costs) for their owners. Civilization is a subversive inconvenience in that environment.

(Thankfully not all modern nations are so short sighted. In fact, most of the other ones aren't, but that doesn't do us much good. Personally, I suspect it's the geology of the western hemisphere - all nations here eventually "go native" and turn into bananaa republics. We're assuming our rightful place as a large third world nation. We work hard for that result every day.)

12. i agree with you...
except that when you mention that bit about "a plan that would continue our species" add "in their own image". so of course the plan would be that they take all the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ that they can make, print or just plain steal. then they choose from one of two courses of action: wait it out (but worry if their resources will hold out that long) or expedite it (thus stay in a position to 'oversee' events and to simultaneously 'dodge the bullet' using advance/strategic planning)

that way THEY are in control of what few resources are left, and THEIR progeny are the sole beneficiaries of the earth - and you couldn't convince them that this wasn't according to divine plan if you tried. they are the "chosen" ones.

14. They cannot recognize incompetence in themselves or others.
In fact they prefer to surround themselves with incompetent people. The business I work for is in dire straits because my Republican boss promoted a brown=nosing flunky to general manager (also republican).

The flunky proceeded to act like a little Napolean and proceeded to piss away money wholesale all the while acting like the cock of the walk. In fact he hired a buddy to run the department I work for who had absolutely no idea what he was doing. Sound familiar?

Eventually he had to can the two idiots but not before the damage was done. Now it's up to me (radical leftist) to put part of this business back in working order.

15. Profit Taking.
That's all it is. It's a big con
A swindle... like a 100 billion dollar game of three card Monty.
These republican crooks are sneaking all the money they can carry out the back door
and there will be none left by the time they leave (or are thrown out).
The goal is to bankrupt the govt.. by stealing all it's (our) assets.

On CNN they had a caption for the strike being over in NY that read,
"the end is near"...(or something close to that)..they left it up on
the screen for a bit, and as I was looking at it, I couldn't help but
think "subliminal message - they're preparing us" lol <---I think!

18. You have echoed....
what I was thinking today.

I think the Neocons are drunk with power. They are not the sharpest bunch to begin with(look how many of them are under indictment), and they have made the mistake of believing their own bull--that the majority of Americans want them to be doing what they are doing. Remember all that crap before last year's election about "values voters"? Some right-wing think tank dreamed that one up (probably the same one that invented the War On Christmas), and the media bought it--the idea that what most Americans are concerned with is having elected officials who pay lip-service to moral values, and that we don't care about much else. CRAP. The neocons have put so much energy and money into their disinformation machine, they have successfully confused themselves.

19. Somebody said that in order to have civilization ...
you must have taxes.

And as we all know, the nuts on the right hate taxes. It all stems from their utopian view of the "free market." They don't want taxes or regulatory controls of any kind. In essence, they want The Jungle. It goes hand-in-hand with their belief in social Darwinism.

Civilization means collectivism, and collectivism, in their eyes, is socialism and communism, ergo, evil.
