their "personal relationship with....."

Not being a fundie, it took me awhile to catch your drift.

I'm going to steal that line and use it in place of "fuck you!" Well, at least for the holidays.

BTW, welcome to DU :hi:

4. They mind everybody else's business because
minding their own becomes painful, messy, frustrating, fearful, risky, and puts them at risk for having to do something about the messes they themselves have made. It's much easier to point at us and thunder some bit of horse shit from Leviticus so they can feel superior.

Well, we're getting very sick of being pushed around. It's time to push back.

7. Well after all didn't americas most wanted
prove that minding other peoples business kept americans safe? Funny thing is you never hear them talk about how many false people are picked up and questioned because of someone looking like a wanted suspect. Also note that there is no presumption of innocent until proven guilty, they ran so they must be guilty is the shows theme. Where do you think fundies get the ideal that its ok to run another's life? You got it Fox news and Fox networks.

8. They *want* to be persecuted.
How else can they feel like victims, in imitation of the Ultimate Victim? Their political point of view appears to boil down to "Waah! It's not fair!"

9. Actually Jesus wasn't a victim at all
If you take the truly "of faith" into account for the story of the crucifixion...

He KNEW he was the son of God. He KNEW he would be seated at th right hand of the Father. He KNEW of the existance of everything magical and heavenly. HE KNEW. There was no lapse in faith. Every 'miracle' demonstrative fact and therefore HE CHEATED.

A few days of incredible pain to be a demi-God/Savior/King of Heaven? Hell yeah, who wouldn't go through that.

10. Good point.
Although why are they so mad about the people who killed him then? Wasn't that act necessary and in fact preordained? I really don't understand any of these complicated theological points.

11. Blame the Dagos and the Jews
Edited on Thu Dec-22-05 02:52 PM by YOY
In addition to the idea that the act was preordained and necessary (and in the eye of the fnatically faithful they were) you would think that they would be thankful...in the eyes of the Catholic and Orthodox churches and many of the saner protestant branches this necessary act is recognized. In the modern (mainstream) churches there is no hate towards the Jews for this one. In the minds of the fundies though...

Another issue in the blaming of the Jews for the crucifixion is the blaming of the decendants for the acts in the distant past. "Sins of the fathers" transfered to their children seem not only insane but completely acceptable in this kind of pretzel logic as well.

Mind you, if you take out the magical miracles of the bible and take it for what it most likely was (A Jewish fellow preacing good will and chairity to his fellow man and was killed for upseting the status quo then later deified) they you do indeed have a victim. This is not the Jesus of the fundies.

(BTW I am a Dago so I can say that one...)
