Why is everyone all atwitter about impeachment?
I wish I felt as excited as some of you do, that this guy was going to finally get his for acting in an obviously illegal manner, but is anyone watching the MSM?

CNN, Faux, MSNBC, why they're all practically falling over themselves to parrot Bush's lie that what he did was legal. They are all repeating word for word his accusation that exposing his illegal act was "shameful". The lemmings watching these shows are being told by every talking head that the real criminals here are the people at the NYT who exposed the President's activities.

No one's going to call for impeachment. He's going to get away with it. Americans are being told by every single media outlet that they should be thanking their President for illegally spying on them and punishing the media who exposed it.

And today they're talking about this criminal's jump in the polls.

Oh please. Impeachment my ass. We are no longer a country based on the constitution. We're a regime under a dictator, and we're being told now that we just have to sit back and like it.

1. Don't be afeared. Gotta' keep hope alive. (Having said that,
impeachment doesn't drive folks out of office, just shames them or something.)

15. 4 or 5 days ago;
I was actually in the spirit of Xmas. Sunday came along and there was none of the moral outrage from the talking Dems that I felt inside. Ditto on Monday, except for small and hard to hear talking points. It will take the Dems being votes into majority this coming fall to get anything worth while going toward impeachment. Unless... The actual list of who and what are being spied upon hits the media. Johnny 'gate-swinger' and Janey 'blowing-in-the-wind' may sit up and take notice if 'their' favorite organizations are being targeted. Right now, it's the 'crazies' who can claim that abuse.

2. Sadly.....
you are right.

The Constitution does not mean anything anymore to most people.

In order for there to be impeachment, you need the MSM to give it legs. We don't have that today. Unfortunately, Bush could strangle to death a girl scout on national TV and the media would spin it that he was protecting us from the bad guys.

3. "No one's going to call for impeachment??" What about...
...Sen. Barbara Boxer and Rep. John Lewis, both of whom raised the spectre of IMPEACHMENT yesterday? Are they nobody?

5. In today's world...
Sadly Boxer and Lewis are "nobodys". Ask the guy next to you at work, or on the street. They're calling for impeachment, but they've called for a lot of things.

Listen, I hope this story gets legs. I'm on your side and I agree with Boxer and Lewis.

I just don't see it happening. Dem's haven't got legs themselves... They're trying, but they're just getting done with the spine implants Dean & Reid have helped give them.

7. If I had a dime for every time I've read "drip....drip...drip"
...on these here pages as a way of saying "be patient, he will get his comeuppance" I'd be a wealthy, wealthy man many times over.

After 5 years though the drip drip drip becomes just another din of white noise that gets shut out after a while and is barely noticeable. Sadly, that's where we are right now.

4. Fortunately for us, we are not the ones who actually submit the
"impeachment papers;" nor are the sheeple.

Our elected officials are starting to stand up and use the "I" word. I think the corporate media may be forced to address impeachment as a likihood in the not too distant future. There are too many of us with alternate sources of news and information these days, including our elected officials.

It could happen. Personally, I'd like to see the entire bfee brough up on charges to answer for the corporate controlled state they've created. Impeachment may start the investigation needed for just that. Though it may takes years, even decades to de-tangle the web of influence and corruption they've woven.

13. Me, too. Though I should tell you, I'm a cynical optimist.

There's still a part of me that believes people are inherently good rather than evil and we're not all lazy slug-abouts.

Here's hoping.

8. Byrd has called for a real investigation.
And there are numerous pundits out their saying brush broke the law and is a crook. Hold on, everyone isn't as smart and quick as you, they are still chewing this important issue. I just now made up my mind on the legality of this. It will take the American people a little longer, but they are not going to give up the liberties to a crook like brush. They are in a Christmas frenzy and you may not notice any repercussions until after Christmas.

I called one of my Senators yesterday to complain about the spying, and ask for an investigation into the matter. When I was finished speaking my piece to the young man on the phone, he says to me- "I can record this call as you asking for an investigation, or I can record it with all the other calls I've gotten today for impeachment. Do you want me to track it for an investigation, or do you want me to track it for impeachment? I said impeachment. He said he had over 100 calls asking for the same thing, and this was at 10:30 on Monday morning. Seems like many are calling for impeachment, it doesn't mean it will go anywhere, but people are calling and asking for it.

edit- to make clearer

That's the only way we'll get impeachment. It's better that way too because IF we get the majority in the house we can get Pelosi as president instead of Bastert. (this is predicated on impeaching Cheney at the same time).

16. If the media and congress stand by and do nothing while scandal
after scandal are revealed to the American public, WE will be the only ones left to do something about it. Question will be, what will/can we do?

17. Well, I am calling for impeachment....made 2 phone calls to my
Senators yesterday, and sent 3 letters out today. Will be doing LTTEs and working with any grassroots organizations that are going to push for impeachment. If we put extreme pressure on Congress, we will get articles of impeachment!

18. I agree.
Last time I checked you had to have a majority in Congress to be able to impeach. The GOP majority is not going to initiate impeachment procedures. Some people seem to forget that when Nixon was impeached the House was controlled by Democrats. Plus the Repubs at the time were mostly moderates, not wingnuts. We have a very different situation now.

19. The pukes control all 3 branches of government
right now. An impeachment vote would fail miserably until the Dems control congress once again. We ALL would love for it to happen right now, this minute, but we must wait until we have the votes. Many of the moderate pukes might vote for it, but we can't be sure. We need to make sure the people have been scared shitless of this administration's actions before we can persuade enough of the centrists into actually going for the impeachment.

What it really is going to take is for us (Dems) to find a way to circumvent Faux and the other mainstream media as the news source for the majority of people in the country. We need to find ways to turn people around, get them to read less sensationalistic papers, watch more "real" news, and find sources online to read articles that tell the truth. It really isn't going to happen for a lot of people, unfortunately, because a lot of people are too set in their ways to be better educated about these things.

My sister in law yesterday asked if I had heard about the plane that went down in Florida. I told her, at that moment, I had not. She chided me by saying, "oh, that's right--you don't watch the news." And it's true--I don't watch TV news. I read my news online where it makes more sense, and where I know that I will glean more from it and from a perhaps slightly less biased source. A few minutes after she told me the news, it was in front of me in Google news, and included a lot more information than she had heard on the TV news.

People keep their televisions on all day, and only about 1/8th of what they hear filters through into their brains. And there are just too many stories on this cabal that the ordinary citizen is intercepting. After a while, it literally goes in one ear and out the other, because their own problems are overwhelming them without the need to pile more on their brains.

But the trend does seem to mean something, when all is said and done, this madministration has committed one too many illegalities, and they WILL pay, once we can get the support we need.
