Washington Journal, C-SPAN...WSJ Editorial, "Thank You for Wiretapping"
THANK YOU FOR WIRETAPPING???? P-R-A-V-D-A???? Anyone??? THANK YOU FOR WIRETAPPING? WTF is going on with our journalists? Where are they? When will someone step forward? Will the NYT leak the people who were spied on to prove these bastards are CROOKS? Do they have the names? Are these people ever going to be held accountable for all the illegal things they have done?

Of course it's fascist Peter who is doing the "discussion" on this editorial. :eyes: Wasn't he on yesterday??? Enough already! :grr:

1. The republican Lady who was just on
Spouting the lines that "they" can wire tap me and day of the week. She claims that there must be a lot of guilty consciences out there for all these people to be upset with domestic spying. Of course then she brings up the FBI files that were found with the Clintons. They are getting some real looney's today.

2. "I'd rather be alive that have my civil rights" (paraphrase)
There have been at least two callers say this.

By creating an aw-shucks good ole boy personal for this cold blooded killer, the * handlers have created a scenario in which criticism of policy is seen as a personal attack on this poor kindly soul who only has our interests at heart. We need to go for the jugular. It will be ugly but, just like the monsters in the movie who lose their human pods, the public will at least be able to recognize the ugly truth.

7. The one that scared me was the supposed Democrat who said the Dems
are in a bad position. No matter what they do, they come out of this looking bad. If we stop the wiretapping and remove the idiot from office and we get attacked again (which the cabal WILL DO), we can't win because the people will rally around the idiot again. I hope he's wrong. I hope MOST of the people can see through the bullshit and see how EVIL and CORRUPT these people are, but JUST LISTEN TO THESE CALLERS! They scare the hell out of me with their ignorance.

4. WSJ, power talking to power
Wow, shocking...nothing will happen. Patriot Act or no, spying will continue.

"Are these people ever going to be held accountable for all the illegal things they have done?"

Why would they start now? The same people who are spying(John Poindexter) were creating death sqauds for expendable Latin Americans.

18. Ding, ding, ding, ding.....We have a winner!!!
John Poindexter, the convicted (Poppy pardoned) Iran-Contra spook was put into DARPA in Feb 2002 to head a group (Info Awareness Office, I think) to develop an all knowing all seeing system that would scan everything. Phones, radios, emails, credit records, library records, everything looking for patterns or phrases deemed "interesting" for good old Rummy. Congress killed the program and the good Admiral faded from sight. Rummy commented at the time that they would just have to get the info some other way.

6. Yes, I'm listening to CSPAN callers
Edited on Tue Dec-20-05 07:36 AM by Jawja
on "Washington Journal" and I am terrified about what I'm hearing from callers. One actually said that he was more "worried about being attacked than his civil liberties" and another caller "he can tap my phone any time he wants." It's frightening to hear people so completely buy into the "lurking killers" meme.

The Presidential Oath of Office and the 4th Amendment to the Constitution are very clear. It's black and white; not grey with "presidential authority." It's frightening to see publications like "The Wall Street Journal" so blatantly support this violation of the 4th Amendment.

on edit: I imagine there were powerful newspapers in Germany in the 1930's whose editorial boards strongly supported Adolf Hitler, too. Shame on the "Wall Street Journal" for defending this little thug.

that so many people are so willing to "sheepify" themselves. I would have never guessed that so many Americans are flat-out cowards. And to give it all up...our civil liberties, to have this particular blathering idiot feign the ability to protect us, well, that is just really scary!

9. These people don't get what the issue is.
The issue is not whether the government can issue wiretaps, it is whether they can do it without a court order or judicial review. FISA allows for emergency taps as long as they get judicial review within 72 hours. If the wiretaps are justified, there should be no problems with judicial review.

35. Didn't read about the illeteracy rates in this country? And most
Americans who have the ability to read don't and therefore are ignorant of history altogether. The end of the "cold war" dumbed this nation down significantly. And nothing will turn it around. We have had our civilization. It is now time for use to recede into the dustbin of history as all other criminal, arrogant, and corrupt civilizations have done in the end.

27. That may be
But I was focusing on Schmitt. I watched "The Oil Factor" the other day, and he was interviewed on there. If anyone doesn't know it, it's an documentary about the imperial path we're on. Gary Schmitt, the Executive Director of PNAC was fairly open about what they want to do. They also interviewed Schmitt on Nightline, the one time a major media outlet has ever touched PNAC. They just don't care. They're open about it, just like Bush was over the weekend. They simply do not give a damn. This is their chance, and they're going for it. They won't stop, law or no law.

when part of my job included interviewing forensic clients, I learned to almost totally ignore when they brought up irrelevant information in an attempt to distract focus from the issue at hand. James is doing pretty well at keeping the discussion on track. He might do well to say that she keeps attempting to distract the discussion about Bush's violating the law.

Anyone who is against the constitution of the United States IS against the United States and ALL those who have ever fought and died defending it. We ARE REQUIRED to take our country back and defend it from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Is there anyone besides me here who has taken the pledge to protect and defend the constitution? 39. I agree.
"Perhaps it is universal truth," Madison wrote to Franklin on May 13, 1798, "that the loss of liberty at home is to be charged to provisions against danger, real or pretended, from abroad."

Or, as Walt Whitman wrote in "Notes for Lecturers on Democracy and 'Adhesiveness'", "There is no week nor day nor hour when tyranny may not enter upon this country, if people lose their supreme confidence in themselves, - and lose their roughness and spirit of defiance - Tyranny may always enter - there is no charm, no bar against it - the only bar against it is a large resolute breed of men."

54. We Are Becoming A Nation Of Cowards
As long as we're secure, it's ok to have the gov't spying. I actually heard three people say or imply that this morning!

And, i've got another question on this: Silverspoon says this wiretapping has prevented attacks. Isn't this the same guy who ADMITTED we were wrong about Iraq and WMD; wrong about Iraq and al Qaeda; wrong about how the post combat recovery would go; wrong about the warnings preceeding 9/11? So, why would anyone think that they are any better at either managing new attacks or at telling the truth now? I mean, they ADMITTED they were wrong before.
