Buried secrets, brutal truths;
I heard about this series on NPR today. Was kinda shocked that my old hometown paper was doing something this in-depth and investigative.

Yup! Americans never ever commit war crimes. Good thing we got that "world court" exemption.

"It was an elite fighting unit in Vietnam - small, mobile, trained to kill. Known as Tiger Force, the platoon was created by a U.S. Army engaged in a new kind of war - one defined by ambushes, booby traps, and a nearly invisible enemy."

"Seven years after leaving Vietnam, James Barnett broke down. Haunted by the killing of civilians, the former Tiger Force sergeant invited Army investigators to his home to offer a surprise confession."

"The two elderly Vietnamese women were walking toward the soldiers when Tiger Force platoon Lt. James Hawkins ordered his men to shoot."

2. Of course posting this will make the neo-Cons....
...call me a military hating anti-American communist. Which is funny considering that I am an officer in the U.S. Army as we speak. That fact really makes their heads spin around and pop.

4. We need more military people to speak out. It's good to have you here.

I'm not in the Military but I come from generations of people who were. They all to a man would consider themselves professional soldiers many did not make it back from the War(s) they fought in. Some made it back with severe injuries some taken prisoner of war WWII and returned home a shadow of their former selves. Like all soldiers they did what they had to to survive but they would consider the actions of the Vets described in the article as reprehensible and sadistic in the extreme to the point that these individuals were not deserving of the title of Soldier..... Death Squad yes Soldiers No Way.

The depravity described in this article is one of the main reasons many people are so anti-military. Witch is a major disservice to all those that serve with honor & professionalism.
