Islamic Army in Iraq Issues a Statement on Iraqi Elections
The Islamic Army in Iraq Issues a Statement Concerning the Ongoing Iraqi Election and Their Position on the Subject

By SITE Institute

December 16, 2005

The Islamic Army in Iraq issued a statement today, December 16, 2005, which concerns the ongoing Iraqi elections and their opinions on the subject of the “political operation game.” The group reiterates their position of disbelief and refused support for democracy, considering it a false deification, and states that they have refrained from making “unaimed” targets, as “nobody should be hurt for another person’s wrongdoing,” and did not prevent people from going to the voting centers. Further, they claim that most of the Sunni people who participate in the election were compelled to do so by the hands of the Iraqi government. The group believes that is the Shi’ites control the government, “it will be the mother of evils and disaster upon the Sunni people.”

According to the statement, recent attacks have been concentrated upon American forces and their supporters, and the group will continue in their jihad until their “goals materialize.”
