The sneaky frat boy took to the air today to tattle on his critics
Edited on Sat Dec-17-05 11:37 AM by bigtree
He thought he could make an impact by claiming his 'war on terror' had been disrupted by critics who revealed that he had directed the NSA spying. But, Bush's plot turned against him when Russ Feingold and others immediately blasted him for breaking the law and making the law up whenever he wanted.

Bush is to be excused for believing that anything he does, whether wrong or illegal, will be explained away. The media made an art of it with their reflexive saluting of the flag as they blow butterfly kisses his way. Questions about the patriotism of his critics and their commitment to protecting national security are used as a club against them and their inquiries.

But he seems to have stepped in it today. Why now? Usually these 'revelations' come ahead of an even worse scandal brewing. It could be that Bolton's collection and dissemination of intercepted conversations of some 10,000 US citizens to policymakers and other government and law enforcement officials was about to be the subject of deeper scrutiny.

Or, it could be that he just got used to thinking that Americans (who had allowed him to take office twice), and Congress (who has allowed him practically everything else in the first term), were brain-dead instead of just asleep. Glad to see folks waking up.

Feingold set the stage: Bush broke the law. Bush is making up the law whenever it suits him. Now we will see, and Bush will be watching to see, whether our representatives have any backbone to hold him accountable.

Bush is a de facto dictator as Congress is loath to hold him accountable for anything.
