O'Reilly: "The secular movement is getting its butt kicked."
Edited on Tue Dec-13-05 08:08 PM by StellaBlue
 bwhahahahaha

He just said this - I was only flipping channels. 'The secular movement is getting its butt kicked on this issue' (Bill says as his overinflated head is displayed to the left of a text box a la Colbert's 'The Word' segment that says some kind of gibberish about the 'war on Christmas').

...what's the 'secular movement' exactly? When was the last time you saw a bunch of secularists on a secular 24-hour news channel talking about how Christmas should be exclusively secular? And how is it that this 'secular movement' is getting its 'butt kicked'? I daresay most actual secularists don't even know that there is a 'war on Christmas'. Maybe because they forgot to pay their dues. Or because most secularists are in France? Dunno.

He is so mature and well-reasoned in his arguments, too. bwhahahahaha 'Butt kicked'? Surely you can do better than that, Bill! For someone so hateful, that's a very wimpy insult.

In fact, most Republicans are. They are always complaining about non-existant problems.

Edited on Tue Dec-13-05 09:17 PM by StClone
The secularists will have been defeated. That is for certain but the whole hornswoggle to convince the ditsy Christians that there is in fact a threat to Christmas is B.O.'s aim. Well heck yeah, Bill's effort to succeed in protecting Christmas is a lock. Sure genius.

9. O'Reilly is pandering to the NATIONAL "Christian" audience
As someone who has lived 50 plus years in New York, he must know that we have been saying Happy Holidays for decades here, out of RESPECT for other religions, specifically, for our large percentage of Jewish neighbors who also are celebrating their holy days at the same time.

Mr. O'Reilly, you are a HYPOCRITE.

14. YEAH... good point!
'Secular' does NOT equal 'atheist'. Secular is a term used to describe a type of public life/space in which no religion is given a privileged position, or is assumed as the default position, or is inappopriately treated as sacred by non-sacred authorities (e.g. the police, the schools, etc.). Right?

secular /sekyoolr/

• adjective 1 not religious, sacred, or spiritual. 2 (of clergy) not subject to or bound by religious rule. 3 Astronomy denoting slow changes in the motion of the sun or planets. 4 Economics (of a fluctuation or trend) occurring or persisting over an indefinitely long period.

• noun a secular priest.

— DERIVATIVES secularism noun secularist noun secularity noun secularize (also secularise) verb secularly adverb.

— ORIGIN Latin saecularis ‘relating to an age or period’, from saeculum ‘generation’, used in Christian Latin to mean ‘the world’.

35. Really
That's pretty rude if you ask me. Saying "happy holiday's" is only polite to other people. If I don't know someone and what they celebrate I will say "happy holiday's" to them. If I do know the person and if they celebrate Christmas I'm going to say "Merry Christmas." Whatever happened to manners? These people are just "crying wolf." Maybe someday they might have a real problem and nobody is going to take that seriously.

11. I can't remember if I heard it on Stephanie Miller
or the local show here in Boston (Braude, 96.9) but one of them played a clip of O'Reilly from his radio show actually defending the the fact that not everyone celebrates Christmas and it was ok to say Happy Holidays (he was responding to a caller who actually threatened to punch someone because they didn't say Merry Christmas - or at least that's what he said).

Does anyone have and audio of that?? Or did anyone else hear it? I can't remember which show it was but it was a total reversal.. hilarious!

13. WTF is the "secular movement" and who is kicking their butt
Is it FAUX News who advertises their Holiday Decorations, gets called on it and changes the ad to Christmas Decorations? Now that Oreilly has personally silenced rappers, brought the nation of Canada to its knees and destroyed the French economy, he's gonna save Xmas. Maybe he can put on some camo and go over to Iraq and bring democracy to the "camel jockeys".

26. Problem is his "followers" are non-critical thinkers
and the Fox watchers believe that they are getting the "truth".

Would "the t.v." lie??? If it's on the t.v. then it must be true.

I watched a Canadian take down some O'Liely watchers -- asking them what they knew about the upcoming elections in Canada -- and the political crisis up there -- the Fox viewers were completely clueless about what he was saying.

"And you all get your news from Fox?" he says -- and they don't cover Canada!

he added a few more insults and this group was so far out of it that they had NO idea that he was insulting their viewing habits.

30. What I love most about this . . .is that the nuttier he gets
the closer he gets to being permanently tossed on his butt. And since he is basically talentless, he'll be forced to take his sexually harassing butt to the streets, where he belongs.

Let's help keep his ratings falling even more. His credibility is already gone; soon he'll be so limited in audience that he'll be hawking Depends on television commercials for a living.

31. Some people don't care about his little fake war
Some people can't even afford to celebrate anything this year. How is Bill helping them? Me saying "happy holiday's" or "Merry Christmas" isn't going to change how I celebrate or someone else. These people need to get over themselves and buggar off! Stop ruining Christmas for everyone else by being selfish!

32. There is no secular movement
These people just create one to keep focus on themselves! Just like this war on Christmas crap. There is NO war on Christmas. Its been celebrated the same way for decades. Happy Holidays and Seasons' greetings are commonly accepted phrases and have been for years. These fundies are crisis creators. Its how they keep their sheep in line!

I am beyond sick of their games.
