Ross is among 81 mostly centrist House Democrats who sided with the administration on the war in October 2002 and supported sending troops to Iraq. Since then, many — 56 are still in Congress and still Democrats — have changed their minds, disillusioned with the administration’s handling of the war and the quality of prewar intelligence. Many say they wouldn’t vote the same way again.
“No, not knowing what I know now,” Ross said. “I think I was either lied to or we got some really bad intelligence. And I’m not sure I’ll ever know which it was.”

Of the 56 Democrats who voted for military force, six have come around full circle and become members of the Out of Iraq Caucus, a 70-member group of Democrats calling for withdrawal.
Another, Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.), is backing a resolution introduced by Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D-Hawaii) that calls for a timetable for withdrawal. Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.), another original yes vote, is co-sponsoring Rep. John Murtha’s (D-Pa.) resolution calling for an immediate redeployment of troops out of Iraq. Rep. Robert Wexler (D-Fla.) was one of three Democrats to vote for a resolution introduced Nov. 18 by Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) to withdrawal troops immediately. Democrats regarded the Hunter resolution as a political stunt.
