Can a veteran familiar with online AFN radio listings,
please visit the websites and tell us in which countries (if any) "The Al Franken Show" and "The Ed Schultz Show" can actually be heard by soldiers via Armed Forces Network radio?

1. Schedule
NEW RADIO PROGRAMS ON AFN

To provide a balance of popular political viewpoints, American Forces Network has added three of the most popular partisan political talk shows to its inventory of programs available to AFN affiliates.

The AFN Radio "Voice Channel" is now carrying, Mondays through Fridays, the first hour of "The Ed Schultz Show," "The Al Franken Show," and "The Sean Hannity Show" in addition to the 1-hour daily broadcast of "The Rush Limbaugh Show." Check with your local AFN affiliate for availability in your area.

The AFN Radio "Voice Channel" is available worldwide with an AFN decoder and satellite dish, and via over-the-air broadcast in some locations. Visit the radio section www.myafn.net for the AFN Radio "Voice Channel" schedule.

Please note that Sean Hannity was added in addition to Rush and Dr Laura - which means to get Al and Ed, AFN added another right wing nut. Dobson also has a show - so the fact remains, AFN remains majority right wing nut.

Keep writing letters to complain of the unequal and unfair time given to right wing nut cases.

3. {"...has added three of the most popular partisan political talk shows ...
says volumes.. Rush has been there all along, so he's NOT partisan, and the "new guys" are being added to give poor ole Rushbo grief"..

That's what it implies..at last they added Hannity to the partisan mix, but YEARS of indoctrination cannot be "undone" so easily..

Still it's better than nothing.. What i would have really preferred would have been to REMOVE Rush, and just play music & sports and allow feeds of CNN/FOX/ABC/NBC/CBC/BBC/CBS..

The military consists of people who HAVE to work together...their lives depend on each other.... to have ANY overtly partisan stuff played into their heads is dangerous

5. I agree that it would be more appropriate to the military environment
to just broadcast sports, music, and relatively neutral news.

9. "neutral news" is what? ABC, NBC,CBS,CNN, Faux, NPR?

Is there such a thing as "neutral news?

Maybe cutting out all talk radio would be closer to neutral - or news but without the agenda driven commentary that is talk radio?

10. Except for Fox News, all of those are neutral compared to
Rush Limbaugh and Al Franken.

11. Do you think that most US soldiers in Germany, Italy, Korea and Japan
can listen to Ed Schultz and Al Franken these days?

13. I don't listen to Voice Channel. I was going to tune in to find out
if Ed and Al actually play in Germany. Pacific times are 9 hours behind me, so picking a time that's good, both for me and when the shows are scheduled - hasn't presented itself yet.

But I had to do battle with the program manager here (Germany - AFN Frankfurt region) over the Daily Show - He wanted to cancel it. So I wouldn't be surprised if he also has problems with airing Ed or Al.

That's why people need to keep writing. The AFN program folks tend to be right wingers.

2. I'm Monitoring The AFRS Station in Frankfurt
Thanks to the marvels of modern technology, I can listen into various AFRS stations and going to check if Franken and Schultz are being heard on the big AFRS station in Frankfurt. I know they carry Rushbo and All Things Considered.
