Atlanta school to pilot BellSouth learning initiative
The BellSouth Foundation will spend $20 million on an e-Learning initiative, BellSouth's 20/20 Vision for Education, and it will use Atlanta's Carver School of Technology as a pilot for the program.

Atlanta-based BellSouth (NYSE: BLS) said the initiative is a way to help close the achievement gap and increase graduation rates, particularly among low-income and minority students, across the Southeast.

The $20 million will be spent over five years on support for state-led virtual schools and technology based learning.

Maybe there is a little good still out there in the corporate world?

1. Is "technology based learning" code speak?
What does it mean? Work sheets on a computer? Electronic flashcards? Surfing the web? Do they still have a library or do they do reading on line? Is the problem with education not enough technology or how technology is used? I don't know waht a 'virtual school' is, but am suspicious. You don't have to pay 'virtual teachers' as much as a human.
