NEWSWEEK: Democrats Recruiting War Veterans for Midterm Elections, Including One Former Pentagon Adviser on the War

GOP National Congressional Committee Chair Reynolds Not Worried; Says Vet Strategy 'Just a Bunch of Hoopla'

<snip>

The White House says it doesn't matter who the candidate is: the Democrats cannot argue from a position of strength on the war given the depth of antiwar sentiment inside their base. Other Republicans say the war isn't going to affect the '06 elections either way. "Local dynamics will trump everything," insists Tom Reynolds, chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee. Reynolds dismisses the Democratic veterans' strategy as "just a bunch of hoopla," saying his goal is simply to recruit the best candidates.

3. These chicken hawks have even put their own vets down
W ran the dirtiest and ugliest campaign against McCain and had his smear friends say horrible things about McCain's service and POW record. Then there was W's smear campaign against Kerry. The smear was put out against Max Cleland, a triple amputee from Vietnam.

They support the vets....yeah, sure...

7. Vets are hoopla?
what happened to support our troops? do we NOT support them because they are now Vets and not active-duty? Toss them aside?

Will the repugs NOT support one their own candidates because the person is a VET? Are the repugs implying that Vets are not qualified to run for public office?

5. Are Republicans counting on their voting machines?
They sound confident because they are counting on their voting machines to cheat for them again? Republicans can't win an election without their voting machines, they have to cheat.

The truth to a Republican is like a cross to a vampire.
