Black friday Sales UP 22%
New headline on CNN Business pages and others. Strange how they didn't really mention the smarttrack of -1% based on pos. But a SURVEY of planned spending gets the big mention right after it comes out.

1. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.
You can't squeeze blood from a turnip. Most Americans are broke. The final numbers, come February, will reflect that fact.

2. Sales were down, but prospects are up
Your title is misleading.

Insanity.

6. Yes it was that was the point.
Of course it was misleading that was the point. Squawk Box Europe is quoting these numbers right now. Based on a survey on live TV.

4. They lie about everything else
or they have some "guest" come on and lie without a rebuttal- same thing.

Why wouldn't they lie about this to help their "sponsors?"

Just turn them off or program the channel off your TV. Your blood pressure will improve and you won't end up misinformed.

5. You had my hopes up...
That things really were improving.

After all, a 22% gain over last year, even for one day's spending, would be a significant indicator of economic growth.

Of course reality dictates otherwise.

7. Consider the source...
This is from the National Retail Association, not the most objective source. It's like when my dad and I had an argument regarding peak oil the other day and he went on the internet and cited the American Petroleum Institute for support.
