Original artists. Anybody getting this or is it a regional thing?

1. PBS is regional.
Both SE Michigan stations are doing (different episodes of) "In Search of Myths and Heroes."

4. I'm in SE Virginia, had a feeling it might
be regional. It's called The 60's Experience, and for some reason they promoted it as "anti-war"....and it's much more than that. Hopefully it comes around to SE Michigan too :hi:

... four disks worth of "Modern" protest music that I downloaded a few months back from the internet... It is definitely Anti-Bush...

Look around, it's out there... I love it.

songs performed from the Vietnam Songbook by new artists. Is this what you were speaking of?

http://www.vietnamsongbook.org/setlist_jp.htm

on edit: oops, you said "anti-Bush", so you must not have been talking about this site for music downloads. Check it out though... good stuff, and FREE!

8. Another great site for comtemporary protest music (and video and more)
is here: http://www.benfrank.net/nuke/Free_Peace_mp3s.html

The stuff is all made free for all by the artists, and the site-owner encourages mass-downloading, copying to CDs, and sharing this music far and wide.

11. Ah, you state the difference between protest music then and now
in the 60's you didn't have to "look" for protest music, it was everywhere. Once the corporations took over radio and playlists became the defacto standard everything went down the crapper. Tom Donahue must be rolling in his grave.

14. I remember when...
... all one had to do was turn on the radio and hear GOOD music... not this regurgitated crap...

But then came arbitron, and that was they day the music died.

Thanks for those links... I'll surely check them out.

6. Oh I'm in heaven, it's fabulous!
Sorry for the false alarm, it is part of the PBS Pledge drive.

I just watched the Animals' House of the Rising Sun guy do the redux, and I feel so young now :)

60's music was the best, in my life so far anyhow :hi::hippie:

and DU'ers all seemed to love the protest music. I haven't seen shown where I am in NC...but that would figure....Lot's of Military here.

7. A bit off topic, but...
Here's one of my favorite contemporary folk singers, Catie Curtis's latest protest song. Check it out.
