Urban Legends regarding the Iraq war
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1527364/posts

Ugh! Where does one begin...and I see these talking points over and over on some other boards I visit.

Here's a sampler...

Urban Legend: The Bush Administration in general, and the Vice President and his office in particular, pressured the Central Intelligence Agency to exaggerate evidence that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction.

Reality: Here is the verdict of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence’s bipartisan Report on the U.S. Intelligence Community’s Prewar Intelligence Assessments on Iraq: “The Committee did not find any evidence that intelligence analysts changed their judgments as a result of political pressure, altered or produced intelligence products to conform with administration policy, or that anyone even attempted to coerce, influence, or pressure analysts to do so. When asked whether analysts were pressured in any way to alter their assessments or make their judgments conform with administration policies on Iraq’s WMD programs, not a single analyst answered ‘yes.’”

:grr:

2. They omitted the word "living" in the last sentence...as in
When asked whether analysts were pressured in any way to alter their assessments or make their judgments conform with administration policies on Iraq’s WMD programs, not a single LIVING analyst answered ‘yes.’

The one's who did have mysteriously disappeared.

5. so what...
everyone knows the intelligence wasn't tainted. the bush administration just conveniently CHOSE not to acknowledge it until after Joe Wilson came out a couple months after the war and say that Bush's claims about Uranium were false and basically he had information for a lon time telling him the truth.

the investigation now - the phase 2 is how the adminstration used this information.

we can tell now that they didn't even frickin acknowledge it because they kept using the false information up to and through the first couple months of the war when they knowingly knew it was false.
