Edited on Mon Nov-21-05 04:11 PM by mopaul
even though the war was based on lies and wasn't even needed and is doing more harm than good, and has killed thousands needlessly, it must be continued indefinitely. got it?

1. Indefinately?
That's a really long time; frankly I think it would be better if the US worked up a plan to withdraw in as timely a fashion as possible.

5. I get it!
It's called circular reasoning. And you are making fun of those whose minds go around in circles.

Although "fun" isn't quite the word for such a bloody mess.

8. What happened when we left Nam?
Yes, it got to the point where we absolutely had to leave Vietnam and what happened? Our enemy came in and there were massacres. Right now in Iraq we are obviously not in control, but we are nowhere near to having our backs against the wall. That is what we absolutely need before we can withdraw. Yeah, 2000+ soldiers are dead and they shouldn't be. Would we save soldiers by pulling out? Yeah, definitely. However, how many Iraqi lives would we be sacrificing by pulling out? We created the mess and we either have to clean it up or truly have our backs against the wall. As much as seeing American men and women die in a war that shouldn't have happened pains me, we can't sacrifice what those 2000 soldiers died for. Pulling out when we still have hope (things may be bad, but this is no Vietnam) is an insult to those that have died. Those people died saving Americans and Iraqis alike and I can't imagine saying now that its okay for more Iraqis to die because we can't fix our mess.

I'm not saying that the potential for us to truly have our backs against the wall isn't there. I'm not saying that we shouldn't set a time-table (though I am saying it can't be concrete), but cutting and running CANNOT be an option.
