Possible all-Governor ticket in '08?
Both Virginia Governor Mark Warner and Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack are retiring with strong approval ratings in their states and running for president. What would you think of a possible Warner/Vilsak ticket? we would have a good chance to pick up two states we lost in '04--Iowa and Virginia. Virginia has been trending purple while Iowa has been moving slightly away from the Dems recently (Dukakis, Clinton and Gore carried Iowa, while Kerry lost the state narrowly, and the GOP is leading in polls for electing a new Governor in '06).

I'm not advocating either of these men for president, but it's an interesting thought since many people think that Governors have the best chance of winning.

2. No, they are both DLC
We need a progressive Dem, outside the mainstream, Gov. Brian Schweitzer of Montana

He takes no repuke prisoners and has won in a Red State without being repuke light

6. I like any ticket that keeps Senate Dems where they are...
we need all of the Democrats in the Senate to stay put if we hope to gain a majority, so I'm all for an all-governor ticket. I would take Warner/Vilsack over Vilsack/Warner, simply for the regional aspect. Because, let's face facts -- the only way we've ever won the White House in modern history was through a moderate, Southern Dem., excepting JFK.

8. no. We really need to demolish the DLC..put them in their place.
They have RUINED our party, IMCPO. NO CANDIDATE WHO IS A MEMBER OF THE DLC.

9. would be different, I don't think there has ever been two governors
on a ticket (i.e. the last office held by both was governor). A more likely combo is governor/senator or senator/senator.

10. Warner -Vilsack would be great. I also like Schweitzer and Richardson
and even Sebilius. We need to use our governors. That said, I'm also hooked on Clark and a big fan of Edwards (Bayh to a lesser extent). I'm likely to wind up satisfied in 2008.

12. That combo would probably win, but many dems don't care about winning.
Kerry's electoral votes (252) plus Warner/Virginia electoral votes (13) plus Iowa (7) = Dem presidency.

I really, really hope we will have good dem candiates from winable red states in '08.
