October 1-13 left 16 dead in Iraq and I see nothing about it on my television. I am so sick of seeing "97 dead in combat since May 1."

I have to give a lot of credit to the "Iraq Watch" in the House of Representatives that's on CSPAN right now.

3. I was pushed over the edge AGAIN today
when I checked the list and saw that two soldiers were killed on the 13th along with the another three. The two had a garbage truck tip over on top of their Humvee. Today, FAUX was showing a traffic accident LIVE from LA but never reports on deaths in Iraq.

4. Yep.
The mandate from on high is that the media must now present only "positive" news from Iraq. I'm with you.

5. Resistance Is Stiffening
The Iraqis are learning American weaknesses, and exploiting them. We're stretched thin as it is, and there's no politically acceptable way of increasing our presence. Bush hopes to pay off allies with part of the $87 billion.

7. I had no idea that the numbers started there.
Whenever you hear about Vietnam, it's in connection to 50,000 American deaths. Thanks for that information.

8. Don't worry.
We'll get to the big figures. It's just a matter of time. Particularly when we invade Syria, as the administration is tuning up to do.

After that, it'll be a worldwide holy war and the blood and guts will be spilled on a world war scale.

10. In another thread about "major war and the draft"

I posted that in the early sixties in VietNam it was random attacks and bombings. Hell, I put in for VietNam in 1962. At that time most everyone was an "adviser" and drawing per diem, living in a hotel in Saigon and partying. Thankfully, you don't often get what you ask for in the military.

11. Let's not forget Pfc. Lori Piestewa...Hopi Indian single mother

Piestewa, 23, a member of the Hopi Tribe, was killed when her support convoy was ambushed near Nasiriyah in Iraq on 3/23/03. She was a single mother with a son, 4, and a daughter, 3.

This prescient piece was written back on April 10:

"...Lynch will come home to West Virginia on crutches, to the waving of American flags; Piestewa will return to the reservation in a coffin draped in an American flag."

Hopi Prayer
-author unknown

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint in the snow.
I am the sunlight on the ripened grain.
I am the autumn's gentle rain.
When you awaken in the morning hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush.
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there,
I did not die.
