If the Senate requested Bush and Cheney step down, who would...?
...they recommend from the Senate to take over? Which Republican would they choose to replace Bush and Cheney? John McCain? Doubtful? George Allen? Maybe? Who could better represent this country from the Republican Party? Almost any would be better than Bush and Cheney, with the possible exceptions of Senators Sessions of Alabama and Senator Hatch of Utah...

5. Heh, bit optimistic, aren't you? :-)
What makes you think the war party has any intention of loosening its grip?

In any case, there are plenty of monsters to take their places; Bushism is not Bush or even Cheney.

6. Firstly, they wouldn't.
Secondly, unless Cheney resigns first, it'd go directly to Hastert.

Thirdly, if Cheney DOES resign first, Bush would get to nominate a VP that would be up for confirmation by the Senate.

8. Isn't Hastert, the other criminal, next in line? Hastert, if he's not in
jail for his participation in the Abramoff case. Are there any non-criminal repukes? I don't think so.

9. It's going to be a rerun of Nixon
The Dems will take back Congress in 06. All the investigations will begin and Cheney will resign. A new VP will be appointed by * and then * will resign before he can be impeached. The new VP will be appointed president and will pardon *, insuring he loses the next election. Been there, done that.
