"Christian" Activists: ACLU is this generation's Ku Klux Klan
Beyond outrageous rhetoric. Methinks they are pulling out all the stops now because they know their monkey President is politically kaput.

hristian Activists to Hand-Deliver Letters Demanding ACLU Back Off

To: National Desk

Contact: Dane Rose, 202-546-8329 ext. 106, off hours at 703-447-1072; Rev. Rob Schenck, 703-447-7686 cell, both of Faith and Action

WASHINGTON, Nov. 17 /Christian Wire Service/ -- The Reverends Rob Schenck (pronounced SHANK) and Patrick J. Mahoney will visit ACLU headquarters today to hand-deliver more than 20,000 petitions demanding that the left-leaning liberal attack group back off of terrorizing communities and individuals who seek to affirm America's Judeo-Christian values.

Schenck, who heads up Faith and Action in the Nation's Capital, and Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalition, asked their respective members to sign the statements after the ACLU sued a small rural school district in Adams County, Ohio, over four displays of the Ten Commandments in front of public schools there. The ACLU won an order for the Commandments to be removed, then demanded that the school reimburse them for legal expenses. After Christian ministers in the community stepped forward with a pledge to replace the money taken from the school budget, the ACLU settled for $80,000.

"The ACLU is this generation's Ku Klux Klan," said Rev. Rob Schenck. "They gallop into small towns with legal hoods over their heads and terrorize good people by threatening to harm children by draining the coffers of local schools if they so much as dare to recognize our nation's true heritage. These ACLU bullies are nothing more than psychological terrorists."

The Reverends Schenck and Mahoney plan to arrive at the offices of the ACLU around 3:00 P.M.

9. What About Showing Up At Christian Funerals
saying God hates Fundamentalists. And advocating violence against radical clerics.

Oh, wait, that is Christians showing up at homosexual funerals. It is the radical clerics praying for, inciting violence against those who don't share their beliefs.

3. Mahoney... Mahoney...
There was something I knew about Mahoney, but I can't put my finger on it at the moment. Anyone got bio info on him?

As for the ACLU & Ten Commandments... "our nation's true heritage"... blah! I believe the court case stated that if the monuments could be proven to be items of historical significance, they could stay. Quite obviously, these were not of that variety.

their hobnail boots and brown shirts goose stepping to the tune of ''on wards Christen soldiers''? Then they can march down to the nearist jews setlement and talk about how jews are to blame for american christen greed. After all, we all know if it wasn't for the jews, greed would never have entered a fundie mind.

12. Well, yah know, the ACLU is a bunch of devious "Jew" lawyers...
...who are out to destroy this country by enforcing all the provisions of the Constitution. Yep, freedom, limited government, rule of law, freedom of speech and freedom of religion: all subversive ideas. I don't accept everything the ACLU stands for. For example, I support campaign finance reform and squelching the press on pending criminal litigation to protect 5th and 6th Amendment rights. Still, it is hard to imagine that the nation is somehow worse off because some people are willing to stand up for the Constitution.

Aren't the Ten Commandments a Jewish invention?

35. Yes on the Ten Commandments
They were given to the Jews when they were set free from Egypt and the Pharoah to Moses as guide lines for worship and how to live since they weren't used to being free and things like that. I personally don't know of any Christian's who follow them now days. You recognize them and most of it is basic common sense.

At least it wasn't another Nazi analogy. Come on folks, any points for creativity here? Not too many, KKK isn't too original, they should have come up with something really fresh like Genghis Khan pillaging our fine traditions. Come on, when was the last time you heard a Genghis Khan analogy?

All kidding aside, where is the outrage from the right at this deplorable tactic? I'm waiting to hear it. I'm waiting. Crickets are chirping. Hmmmm......

Edited on Thu Nov-17-05 12:23 PM by OneAngryDemocrat
I just telephoned Faith and Action, and left them a message on their automated answering service.

I told them that I thought it was absolutely incredible for them to believe that they had a right, that they somehow deserved MY tax dollars to preach their religion in the public school that I pay for.

I urge you to do the same - it will take just 4 minutes.

How many people has the ACLU killed, maimed, or destroyed their lives?

And how come the ACLU is just fine with you when they are helping those conservatives like Rush, or the Ohio Neo Nazis?

These people have to much time on their hands, and too much coffee in their system.

If they want to see "terrorizing" let's kidnap the two "reverends," force them to listen to Judy Garland records and sign Broadway show tunes until they admit their love for each other and desire to wear their wives K-Mart Prada-knockoff pumps.

But we have people like the Good Pastor clogging up the school board and keeping them from their REAL job ofr funding the school and providing up-to-date materials and technology with their endless logjams over Creationism.

I'm beginning to think that they should put a Gallows, Ducking Stool and Burning Stake in every public square.

That would be a TRUER representation of "our nation's true heritage"...

39. In a word, wrong.
A true representation of our nation's heritage would be a roomful for people arguing and fighting with each other until their common values could be written in vague enough terms to be accepted by most. The Constitution is the only thing that holds this country together. As someone who grew up in rural Massachusetts, Alabama or Los Angeles or the Southwestern dessert may as well be the dark side of the moon.

41. Their view of America does not match the reality ...
... and their aspirations of a benign theocracy do not match the aspirations of most people or the promises of the founders. They want us all to be homogeneous in thought and action, if not appearance, and to have no nails sticking up. Just one big happy brain-dead syrup filled Disneyworld. The problem is that their collective memory does not match reality. What is more is that hammering those high nails in practice is a lot more bloody than it is in theory.

43. Pilgrims of England, come to America for FREE LAND!
That's right, fellow Christian Englishmen. Book passage on the Mayflower and make a town free from the English Church where you can have all sorts of weird-assed laws. Also, real estate is FREE. That means all the maize you can plant, all the cows you can milk, all the timber you can cut! Did we mention that the navy is paying TOP SHILLING for long, straight timbers that can only be found in America? Discover what your Jamestown neighbors already know. America has FREE LAND and fewer lethal diseases than London.

Travelers will ride in luxury aboard the Mayflower. At over twenty-five feet long, she is the pride of the Atlantic. Each passenger will be guaranteed a square foot of floor space to stand on during the three-month passage. Upon arrival at balmy Cape Cod, over half of you that survive the trip will be greeted by docile Indians who will cheerfully surrender their land to you and submit to your superior civilization. (Even though none of them would be stupid enough to take this trip.)

Act now. This offer is only good for the first 150 pilgrims, criminals, adventurers, escaping slaves, press gang dodgers, vagrants or Catholic exiles that sign-up.
