Bill Clinton gets impeached, his approval rating jumped to 73%
You read that right, Clinton's approval rating actually JUMPED by 10 points AFTER he was impeached.

http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/stories/1998/12/20/impeachment.poll/

In the wake of the House of Representatives' approval of two articles of impeachment, Bill Clinton's approval rating has jumped 10 points to 73 percent, the latest CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll shows.

That's not only an all-time high for Clinton, it also beats the highest approval rating President Ronald Reagan ever had.

Bush's approval ratings were just released, and he's down to 34%

http://online.wsj.com/public/article/SB113216347138199155-5Z1Ri_om8ITUbV_jD2bx6maguMY_20061116.html?mod=tff_main_tff_top

President Bush's positive job rating continues to fall, touching another new low for his presidency, the latest Harris Interactive poll finds.

Bush's current job approval rating stands at 34%, compared with a positive rating of 88% soon after 9/11, 50% at this time last year, and 40% in August.

Just to put in perspective how UNPOPULAR Bush really is.

1. Yeah, because people saw the impeachment for the farce it was...
...and reacted accordingly.

If that doesn't tell you what the impeachment was, ntohing will!

14. More to it than that
There are people who see the president's job as a bigger deal than it truly is. They feel like they personally need the president, in a sense. So, they rallied behind him because they wanted him to be a good president despite his problems.
They would do the same for Bush.

15. "They would do the same for Bush."
You have got to be kidding!

As a history lesson, Nixon never got high ratings as the impeachment hearings went on--people knew that was serious business. This impeachment was a joke.

18. Nixon wasn't actually impeached

He resigned rather than go through the impeachment.
You have no idea what would have happened if he gone through it.

6. To this day, I don't understand why 9/11 made Shrub popular
As a New Yorker, he certainly wasn't popular with me -- forget about how my life was personally impacted by 9/11 -- it was clear to me his response was so slow, so hollow, so impotent, so detached, so staged (there never was a "bullhorn moment" as far as I was concerned) -- I've never understood why anyone would put their faith in this dangerous fool.

I'm glad the rest of the country is catching up to what we've all known all along.

9. Fear - Support the Prez - We're under siege. And they never hesitated...

... for a second to exploit and foster that fear.

It wasn't until after 2004 (whether it was rigged or not, it WAS close) that I realized the depth of that fear.

7. Charges were bogus and most people not affiliated with the RW.......
knew IT. When you use the Clinton Impeachment as the litmus test for grounds for impeachment, we should ALL be asking ourselves why the entire bush administration isn't occupying a cell block at the Federal Pen.
