Why Bill O'Reilly Hates San Francisco

http://www.counterpunch.com/chretien11152005.html

-snip-

Yesterday I appeared on O'Reilly's show. Predictably, he tried to pass off his comments as "satire." I told him that the people of San Francisco don't think the war in Iraq is a laughing matter, and that's why they voted by 60% to oppose military recruiters in our public schools. San Franciscans want our troops home now and don't want to replace them with more of our young people to kill and be killed in Iraq. Curiously, O'Reilly insisted military recruiters had nothing to do with the war in Iraq. When I asked him where he thought the young people who joined the military went, he started to bluster.

-snip-

O'Reilly's Al Qaeda fantasies all by themselves are not that interesting. However, I believe that he is the canary in the coalmine of the Conservative Right. Scooter Libby is under indictment, Frist and Tom DeLay are in legal hot water, and the prosecutor's sword is hanging over Karl Rove's head. Both President Bush and Gov. Schwarzenegger's approval ratings are so low that they had to fly 6,000 miles away to Asia to get some good press. O'Reilly's heroes have had it their way for the past four years, and, while it's been good for his ratings, it's been bad for most of the American people. The Conservative Juggernaut is beginning to creak at the seams.

-snip-

Towards the end of O'Reilly's show, he began ranting that he wouldn't back down from his comments about San Francisco. He took a swing at San Francisco because he believes we won't swing back. He's wrong.

I challenged him to come here and participate in a 60 minute, public debate, moderated by a neutral chairperson, to discuss two questions: should the United States withdraw our troops from Iraq and should military recruiters be allowed in our public schools. So now the ball is in his court.

I made note of: " I believe that he is the canary in the coalmine of the Conservative Right."

2. May that canary
go FEET UP! I'd love to see him come out here and talk his trash to a crowd of us Northern Californians. He saw what we did to the Terminator. Why would he think we couldn't do the same to him?

I vote for turning him loose in the Mission District or in Oakland around 2:00 am with that big mouth of his...heheheee!!

3. Would he get to shout at the moderator,
his usual rant about "spin free?" Would he have a telepromptr? Commercial breaks? If the answer to these 4 questions is 'yes', then he'll do it for his usual fee.

4. Gee, and I thought it was a grudge he was holding from his
college days, when the guys in the leather bar made fun of his ass pants.

O'Reilly likes to play macho man when he controlls everything. When he can't controll anything than he's nothing more than a loud mouth bully wannabe. Didn't someone else challenge him and he never took it up?

6. O'Reilly isn't Al Franken. O'Reilly doesn't do satire.
You can't have it both ways. O'Reilly is always talking up how he is a journalist and throws out hate speech and now wants everyone to understand it was satire. Who's he kidding?

8. probably a lot of reasons a right winger like him would hate S.F.
One - it is full of gays, and they hate gays.

Two - it is super liberal and they hate libs.

Three - it is in California, home of hollywood and other degenerate industries that they think pollutes the mind of the children.

10. DENY Clear Channel's license renewal - say NO to Bill O'Reilly & Savage
Please go to www.bethemedia.org to file an Informal Objection to Clear Channel’s radio station license renewal for KNEW-910AM – the station that broadcasts Michael Savage and Bill O’Reilly in San Francisco.

For convenience, BE THE MEDIA created some boilerplate ‘informal objections’ for people to send in to the FCC, specifically regarding Bill O’Reilly’s recent anti-American hate speech.

However, these need to be filed BEFORE DECEMBER 1, 2005. Go to www.bethemedia.org NOW!

11. O'Reilly is a subversive
We saw "Good Night and Good Luck" this week end. My wife and I were teen agers during the McCarthy era.

Bill O'Reilly is a subversive. (this is where Whiskey Joe would scream and pound the podium) A SUBVERSIVE!!! He has given aid and comfort to the sworn enemies of the United States of America - Al Qaida. (this is where Whiskey Joe would again scream and pound the podium) ALLL QAIIIDA!!!

He is no dupe. He is a subversive.

He is morally unfit (this is where Whiskey Joe would once again scream and pound the podium) UNFIT!!! to be on the public air waves.

12. Recommended
Because I want San Franciscans to be provided the opportunity to confront O'Reilly and his hate speech. It's about time O'Reilly defends his rhetoric on a neutral stage.
