Florida Senate Race: Nelson 53% Harris 36%
hahhaha

http://rasmussenreports.com/2005/Florida%20Senate%20Nov%2015.htm

Rasmussen is a GOP hack, so I'd say Harris is probably closer to 26%

3. Now that's more like it.
I remember seeing some numbers recently that had this race much closer. Probably some dopey rethug bullshit.

4. I guess her act doesn't carry statewide.
I'll make a prediction. She'll carry the crazy right wing burbs and lose everywhere else.

9. I think you're right
the folks who were sending her flowers during the whole "hanging chad" Florida voting debacle will remain her loyal followers.
But she's clearly an embarrassment to most people.
It's still just amazing to me that the Secretary of State, Harris, was also Bush's campaign manager for the state of Florida.
And people don't find that bizarre?
Plus, as Sec. of State, she hired Choicepoint to cleanse the voting rolls. Your name is Mary R. Smith and Mary K. Smith is a convicted felon? Too bad. Close enough. You're both outta there.
Harris is one bad karma queen.
Time for her to slink into the shadows.

11. It's also amazing that Kenneth Blackwell, Ohio's Secretary of State,
Edited on Tue Nov-15-05 07:08 PM by Art_from_Ark
was also Bush's campaign manager for the state of Ohio in 2004.

13. Wow. I didn't know this.
These thugs certainly have skewed the system toward their side.
I sure hope we get our country back.

17. It certainly seems like they believe in Stalin's old saying:
"It's not who votes that counts. It's who counts the votes."

18. Why does the general population
not have more cognizance of this? I know DU has covered the voting irregularities well.
But...it's not out in the mainstream.
Isn't this a volatile story for our media?
(Edward R. Murrow...we need you!)

23. You know what's even more irritating?
The General Accounting Office, one of the most sober institutions of government, issued a report that provided evidence of fraud in the Ohio 2004 election

http://www.rockrivertimes.com/index.pl?cmd=viewstory&cat=2&id=11529

Some local media like the one I cite here have noticed, but the national mass media is asleep at the wheel. They are too busy chasing sensationalism and counting their tax breaks to notice the big, stinking 800-pound elephant in the living room.

and of course without exit polls, Nelson will be "ohhh sooo close",but that's it.. and everyone will get pissed, and nothing will happen./...

12. Remember the polls mean nothing-it's all about the Voting Machines.
Why the Dems aren't screaming about the GAO report is beyond me.

14. If the polls are this far apart, then Diebold isn't a factor
Edited on Tue Nov-15-05 10:17 PM by Hippo_Tron
Diebold can't rig a 17 point spread. To make up this kind of spread you would practically have to disenfranchise half of Florida's African American population and Diebold the other half.

HOWEVER

When we see poll numbers like...

Strickland 43

Blackwell 41
-----------------------
Hackett 42

DeWine 38

You can bet that those races are within the margin of fraud. We are going to have to get rid of Diebold on the state level and Ohio is where we need to start.

19. Here is some info on the recent vote in OH:
This information, coupled with the recent GAO Report indicating that Electronic Voting Machines in the U.S. are NOT SECURE, NOT ACCOUNTABLE, NOT TRANSPARENT, NOT ACCURATE, AND ARE UNCERTIFIABLE. Citizens must have faith in their votes counting. Thank you.

Subject:  DIEBOLD ADMITS TO THE GEMS DEFECT

On Oct. 17 2005, an ordinary citizen in Cleveland, Mr. Wright, asked
what may turn out be the most important question of the year.

What is Diebold's explanation, he wanted to know,

for the VBA Script hack of the GEMS central tabulator performed by Dr.
Herbert Thompson?

Black Box Voting has learned that the August 18, 2004
CompuWare Report was hidden from the public by Ohio Secretary
of State Ken Blackwell.

Here is the tampering risk assessment,
which Blackwell had in his hands BEFORE the Nov. 2004 election,
but withheld from both the public and the Election Assistence Commission
(the federal oversight committee charged with ensuring the security of
elections in all states, not just Ohio):

Risk chart illustration:

http://www.bbvdocs.org/reports/GEMS-RISK.pdf

(full Compuware assessment report:

http://www.bbvdocs.org/reports/diebReasses081804.pdf)

This leads to these crucial questions:

If Diebold knew, and if Ken Blackwell knew,
why wasn't the Election Assistence Commission told,
why were no other secretaries of state told,
why didn't Blackwell tell the Ohio election officials using GEMS,
and why weren't the mitigations deemed necessary by CompuWare ever
implemented?

In Tuesday’s election, the Montgomery County Board of Elections used new electronic voting machines for its residents, including 148 registered voters who live in the Montgomery County section of Carlisle.

However, Tuesday’s unofficial results indicated 225 votes were cast in the two Carlisle precincts in Montgomery County — 77 more votes than there are registered voters — with the proposed 3.8-mill levy for fire and emergency medical services defeated by a vote of 146-79.

No one knows. But don't think for a moment that Harris will be allowed to run if she polls that low.

20. I hate myself for saying this but Nelson is all the Republicans need at
this point. I'm a former Floridian who held/still holds Bob Graham in high esteem but Nelson disappoints the hell out of me.

:-(

You may :spank: me now.

24. Harris's campaign manager just resigned.
http://www.theledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051116/NEWS/511160346/1134

TALLAHASSEE -- "In a double blow to her already-struggling U.S. Senate campaign, Republican Katherine Harris lost her campaign manager Tuesday as a new poll showed her badly trailing incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson.

Jim Dornan, a GOP consultant with a long background in national politics, stepped down from his position as Harris' campaign manager, citing a "difference of opinions." He will remain on the Longboat Key Republican's team as a "senior adviser."

In a statement released on The Hotline, a Washington, D.C., political newsletter, Dornan said that Harris felt "her first obligation is to her constituents" as a congresswoman while he "felt it was imperative that Mrs. Harris devote more time and energy to her campaign."

"Even though we have had differences of opinion on strategy and tactics, in the end, I know she can be a great candidate and a great United State Senator," Dornan said.

Former Republican Party of Florida executive director Jamie Miller is now the acting campaign manager.

In a statement, Harris said Dornan "has created a great team with excellent strategies and tactics to follow a roadmap to victory."
