Ed Schultz just said the Senate Dems just called a press conference
to rebut everything Fuck Head Bush said in his Veterans Day speech. Durbin explained in great detail that the Dems absolutely DID NOT have the same intelligence Bush had. This should be all over the news tonight.

6. Nora will say whatever Tim Russert TELLS her to say.
He's still gonna have to testify so he's letting Nora do most of his proBush spinning for him these days.

4. Good
En masse, quick and responsive to political challenge. It keeps the media from resorting to sleepily repeating what the last guy(always Bush) said. Because when Dems speak once the only thing repeated is the GOP spin on what they said. They have to keep the debate active to keep their issue alive and put the spin on the defensive.

10. It would have been better on 9-11 if the Aug 6th PDB went to Sen/House
Intelligence committees who could have read it and acted on it. The 9-11 Commission Report says in section 3.3 that

"As for law enforcement, there were only 33 armed and trained federal air marshals as of 9/11. They were not deployed on U.S. domestic flights, except when in transit to provide security on international departures. This policy reflected the FAA's view that domestic hijacking was in check--a view held confidently as no terrorist had hijacked a U.S. commercial aircraft anywhere in the world since 1986."

As we have learned, Bush and others read the Aug. 6, 2001 PDB

along with intelligence community foreknowledge of the use of airplanes in attempts to attack the US (see timeline )

"Oh Lucy! — You Gotta Lotta 'Splainin To Do"
http://www.sumeria.net/politics/bushknew/ohlucy.html

And the article in the SF Chronicle "Air Marshal integrity called into question" page A3, August 31, 2004, where it is disclosed that NOW there are now thousands of federal air marshals:

"Thousands of air marshals were rushed into service after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The exact number is classified and he air marshals travel undercover, but pilots say they guard only a small percentage of daily flights."

In short, a President that seems distracted on his vacations enough to not read with comprehension PDBs that spell out clearly what needs to be done, is and will continue to be a national embarrassment.

C-Span or something like that? Anywhere a person could actually see it rather than hear the talking head's version later?

14. Here's what I found on DU a short while ago:
0/5/01: Bush Pulls Security Clearances From 92 Senators

“We can’t have leaks of classified information. It’s not in our nation’s interest.” - President George W. Bush, 10/9/01

President Bush’s defiant statement came in the immediate weeks following 9/11, as the administration clamped down on the information it provided to Congress. President Bush issued an order limiting access to classified intelligence only to 8 members of Congress — the Speaker of the House, House Minority Leader, Senate Majority Leader, Senate Minority Leader, and chairmen and ranking members of the House and Senate intelligence committees.

What precipitated this course of action?

Gannett News Service reported on 10/1/01 that Bush was restricting information because, “The Washington Post reported last week that various lawmakers had been told there would be more terrorist attacks if the United States retaliated.”

Here’s what the Washington Post reported:

Asked whether more terrorist attacks are inevitable if the United States retaliates, Shelby said, “You can bet on that.” U.S. intelligence officials have told members of Congress there is a high probability that terrorists associated with Osama bin Laden will try to launch another major attack on U.S. targets here or abroad.

So at this slightest whiff of evidence that information was being leaked, President Bush pulled classified intelligence access for 92 senators. There was no ongoing criminal investigation nor was there evidence that all the members who had their access limited had leaked information. And now he refuses to hold Karl Rove and Scooter Libby to anywhere near the same standard, despite confirmation of their involvement in the leak of an undercover CIA agent’s identity.
