The President's Secret Breakdown - Bwahaha!
First The Enquirer, now The Globe. It's in the November 21 issue, on newstands now. The magazine cover has a picture of Bush looking worried, with huge headlines saying "Bush's Secret Breakdown."

The article starts out ominously:
What every American needs to know.

President Bush is drinking heavily again as he's overwhelmed by crisis after crisis, GLOBE has learned exclusively. "Bush is breaking down. He's boozing and that's a dangerous personal situation, " a source tells us. "It's an open secret in the Inner circle, no one is happy about it. He's fallen back into it. He's under so much stress that he just cracked. The White House is hiding this from America. They don't want anyone to know."

"The President is hanging in there by a thread thanks to Laura's unwavering support." Shockingly, insiders have even whispered that the president has been seeing a therapist to help hm cope and in several emotional outbusts, told Laura he just can't take it anymore.

In one outburst, a source reveals that Bush "actually had tears in his eyes as he said, "I'd just walk away from all of this if I could. The price is too high!"

Oh please, Mr. pResident, do us all a favor and walk away!!!

Sorry, no link is available, but I'm sitting here with the magazine in front of me. Too bad MSM doesn't have the guts to publish this stuff.

None of this "no link available" stuff. Unacceptable, given what you have posted.

I said I was looking right at the magazine. Do you actually think I would make up a post like that?

Here is a link to their website. They don't have the article posted online:

95. Hap's story would have been a hell of a lot
more credulous than anything Cheney could make up. Plus, Hap would get definite points for imagination and originality. Cheney uses the same excuses over and over.

Hap could dream up the excuse, and Edgar could blow 'em up....

80. america media inc, the anthrax victims
as far as i know, the globe is still published by ami, the same folks who publish national enquirer, and the sun, you may remember the sun, their photo editor bob stevens published pix of jenna bush on a bar-room floor drunk on top of another chick -- and he died by anthrax

another employee, i think his name was ernesto blanco but you may want to google it, was almost killed by the anthrax powder at the same time

their building was totalled

i'm surprised the nat'l enquirer & the globe are again "squeaking up" but good for them, this takes real courage

He didn't do one before, and that left him a dry drunk. Now he's off the wagon (I guess he's cut back on his desserts, though) and has the proverbial finger on the button. That canofun videotape of him at Kilgore's rally was very telling. Worst slurring I've ever heard without seeing a speaker fall down.

I am in danger of feeling sorry for Bush. He doesn't have a clue & he knows it. He's watching the "West Wing" for guidance? He seems to depend absolutely & completely on other people (or shows) to tell him what to do. If he loses Karl Rove he might finally go around the bend.

101. Agreed. I, for one, appreciate hearing this news. I will make sure to
buy a copy. No. THREE copies. I've been keeping copies of stuff like newspapers and TIME and Newsweek for momentous occasions in our history, so each of my kids can have these documentations - things like the Millennium coverage, 9/11, the war, Katrina, bush lies, Pope dies, bush lies some more, that sort of thing. I bought three copies of the Enquirer because it was the first time this story had gone mainstream, and I wanted them each to have an issue. So too with this, I think. Our neighborhood store doesn't carry the tabs - dropped 'em when Princess Di died. But I can find the Globe elsewhere nearby. And I shall. Can't wait to savor every word.

107. Indeed. The OP made a plea - please walk away! But the problem is -
Edited on Sat Nov-12-05 07:16 PM by calimary
that's his pattern already. Life-long. This is what he's ALWAYS done when the going got tough, and/or he'd finally realized he'd screwed the pooch again. He always got to walk away, get transfered, get bailed out, get kicked sideways, whatever. It would actually be better if he DIDN'T, or COULDN'T walk away this time. This botch-job is too big and too bad. He's reached a position in which his fuck-ups are epic in proportion. I think it would be useful, instructive, and redemptive, if America could see what happens when you lie to THAT extent. What a REAL IMPEACHABLE lie looks like - instead of some piss-ant persecution over a stained blue dress.

It would be VERY healing and instructive for America also to see that, in the final accounting, cheaters DON'T prosper, and that crime DOESN'T pay. So far, all we're still seeing is him getting away with it. At least for the time being, I suspect, although that free-pass phenomenon doesn't look like it has much tread left on it. There are lessons we all need to learn in this life, so we can progress after this phase ends. So far, george has been able to avoid that. Unfortunately, the bill is coming due and has to be paid one way or the other. Would have been so much better if he'd learned this in elementary school, or high school, or in having to face Vietnam or serious charges for going AWOL, or having to settle for some non-marquee-value college, or maybe had to face cocaine or drunk driving arrests and trial and loss of license, or maybe figure it out for himself when his next company went bankrupt - something - ANTHING - to show him there are consequences when you screw up so wantonly. It might have saved America a whole lot of anguish and a whole lot of bloodshed and a whole lot of loss and a whole lot of tears. Unfortunately, he's put off having to pay up until now - when the stakes are so excruciatingly high it's nearly unfathomable.

Frankly, he'd be better off paying up now than if he somehow slithered out of trouble and had to face the Pearly Gates with so many overdue bills. I'd rather burn off my bad karma here on this plane.

Truth be told, I'm kind of glad Kerry didn't win. For the first time in his life, Bush has to take responsibility for his own mess. Oh, he'll try to weasel out of it, like trying to blame the war on the Dems :wtf:, but it ain't going to work.

He has ALWAYS been able to run away from the shitstorm he created, but NOT THIS TIME!

116. I heard a LOT of people saying what you said - being glad Kerry didn't
win - for PRECISELY this reason - that Kerry would otherwise have been saddled with all bush's chickens coming home to roost, and rest assured the CACA-PHONY caucus would have made sure to pin the blame on the donkey (!) 24/7 when it wasn't Kerry's doing. They said exactly this - that since bush "won" a second term, it would be he, stuck there holding the sludge bag when all the toxins inside finally ate through the bottom. He HAS always been able somehow to run away from every shitstorm he's created. But this one's too big.

Another reason, BTW, that this article is believable. He has a life-long track record for walking away. It's his template. It's habitual by now. No wonder he's used to it, and deep-down wishes for it again. That teary-eyed quote attributed to him in a dispairing moment - about how he wishes he could walk away from all of it - is something you'd expect a person to say if that's what's happened for them in a series of mistakes past. It makes sense.

123. You are oh so correct here.
I do not think he can walk away this time. If he does we will all portray him as a failure, something the Repugs will not allow. There will be no spin that will take if ChimpCo walks away.

I just don't know what would be worse at this point. Walking away, or not. I think if the House goes sour on ChimpCo and starts acting responsible we could have impeachment hearings within the year. Public opinion could be eroding so quickly right now that I'm beginning to think this could very well happen. At least this is what I hope happens.

20. Really. Getting rid of GWB wouldn't exactly be the end of the nightmare.
When you look at the order of succession, you see how deep they are in corruption/incompetence/nastiness. Probably the best scenario is maintaining GWB and his lame-duckness, so that he's hamstrung & they can't really continue with their destructive agenda.

113. But that assumes that if bush is bounced, cheney remains.
Edited on Sat Nov-12-05 07:45 PM by calimary
This may not be easy for America to swallow. He's got even lower popularity polls than george's - anybody know "Hey 19"? And he's in the thick of everything that's a big problem for bush at the moment, except maybe for the whole Harriet Miers affair. It could just as easily be a house-cleaning for them both, and the way it appears the Fitzgerald business may drag on for Fibby libby, it could well be AFTER we very likely take back the House in '06. In that case, it would be President Pelosi, if I'm not mistaken.

By the time it comes to that - by that I mean bush's popularity with America down so far it's irretrievable - the national mood might just be sour enough to take 'em both out, either one after the other OR together. These things take time, and COULD be dragged out by savvy Democratic House rule usage until after the 2006 election and we know where we stand. Then, suddenly, everything could just sort of magically speed up! Besides, with a mood that sour - bush by then SERIOUSLY contaminating other republi-CON candidates - any fears of missing the boat on some generational realignment may be unfounded.

There is such a big difference with the poll numbers for Clinton and Bush.

Clinton could relate to people.

He was highly articulate and highly visible.

He selected great people for his Cabinet and his wife was ARTICULATE and helped him achieve his victories.

He was also SMART ~ I rest my case.

.... that vet this stuff, because the stakes are so high: they can and have been sued for big bucks. Either:

(1) This story is true.
(2) The White House doesn't want to spend too much time swatting at flies by dignifying it.

I'll go with (1) - I think Bush is weak in the mind. He's confident when things are gong his way, but loses his nerve and lashes out when they're not. Kind of scary to think that he has the authority to launch nuclear bombs.

Many titles are just clever/sly questions.
But there is also truth. Hillary, e.g., DID have a lesbian roomie; it's not the Globe's fault if readers infer something NOT true. Heh.
As for "cops name Chandra's killer", I suspect "name" is used generally, as in, "It's someone she knew", as opposed to "It's Gary Condit".

Of course, one could always just stick to the MSM, and get the Truth, the Whole Truth, and Nothing But the Truth.

that is just not right

democrats of all people should have been making a careful study of this case & how this man was destroyed by a false accusation, instead of just piling on

According to The Globe tabloid, at least.

I just got back from the local grocery and sure enough...right there staring me in the face was a big splash of Chimpy's ugly-ass mug on the cover of The Globe magazine. Inscribed in 36 pt font across the top of the rag was something like --

What the White House wants to keep from you. Bush has breakdown and goes on drinking binge. Now in therapy.

You know things are bad when the tabloid feeding frenzy begins.

Besides, do we know it's NOT true? Is there at least a shred of credibility i wonder.

THIS IS A DUPE. PLEASE DIRECT COMMENTS HERE > http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=5343880&mesg_id=5343880

masses I suspect.

There are some people - not necessarily the deepest thinkers - who will buy it. Anything that tends to shorten the tenure of this increasingly dangerous set of fools is probably a good thing.

Irrespective of the source, we may find ultimately that Bush has fallen off the wagon. The collapse of an inactive alcoholic would not be unprecedented. It happened to my late step brother, and he was a much finer man than George W. Bush.

81. Very true, Pigwideon.
I, for one, would never claimed this story to be anything more than fiction on its face, considering the source. Certainly, we would need more sourcing to support tabloid gossip. Still, that does not mean such wild-eyed claims have no effect on the audience --- casual readers or mere passers by. I also think this is more solid evidence regarding the current media / public posture toward the chimp-in-chief. Feeding frenzy time.

Oh, and your headache will get better.

The important thing is that they realize people will see this and want to buy their magazine. This is a barometer of the mood of the American people. More people believe in Alien Abduction than believe in Dick Cheney (who has a 19% approval rating).

Let's see how long it will take the Phony News to pick up on it.

They are just giving little hints.

The photographers have been doing a pretty good job but they can only do so much...

Remember all the crazy photos of Chimp and Annan at the WH?

Recall Chimp leaving the Katrina Night Time Photo Op with his shirt sweating all in the back?

He was entering Air ForceI all by himself. No one bothered to give him a clean of shirt before they let him enter that plane for all the world to see.

They have been hinting, but the whores won't question one thing.

the day. That clip of him came on with the drawlin' and the slurrin' and the sing-songy, good-ol-boy-tawkin' and the leaning all over the lectern as though he couldn't stand up by himself. It was astonishing! It made both my husband and me sit straight up in bed, and then look at each other aghast. It was on Olbermann's show, which we record every night. We actually had to roll it back to that segment and play it again. We did NOT believe our ears. We both asked each other - "did that sound drunk to YOU????" We both answered an emphatic YES.

Shocking and disgraceful!!! What would have been even more shocking and disgraceful, though, would be if he'd helped Kilgore win by showing up like that. At least THAT didn't happen, much to my relief and much to the credit of the clear-eyed, reality-based voters of Virginia. Obviously the old he's-one-of-us charm and the aw-shucks act are both wearing thin.

It was horrifyingly embarrassing. I felt embarrassed for him. And I don't often find much sympathy in my heart for that SOB.
