Let's Come Up With Some Protest Ideas!
Edited on Sat Nov-12-05 01:23 AM by QC
Inspired by the Wal-Mart Shopping Cart discussion, I am looking for other creative new ways of engaging in civil disobedience. Here are a few I've come up with so far:

My state makes prisoners pick up trash alongside the road. I think this is unjust. So, I have decided throw out all of my trash on the way to work. When the governor finds out about this, he'll certainly see things my way!

The grounds crew at work doesn't get paid much, and lately they have been very busy raking up big piles of leaves. I have decided to fight for their rights by scattering those piles back out. Not only will this force administration to implement an immediate pay raise, it will also be fun! Wheeee!

The janitors at work have it even worse than the grounds workers. Imagine, having to clean restrooms! So, in the interest of sticking it to the man and standing up for my fellow workers, I'm going to start shitting on the floor. This will require some sacrifice on my part, since I am by nature a fairly fastidious person, but I am willing to do my part for the revolution.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Try something more constructive and call or write to your representatives and congressmen.

I'm going to see the movie tomorrow, and perhaps I'll change my mind. But frankly I think the best way to protest Wall-Fart is to stay the &*%*% out of their store.

I have more important things to do then fill a shopping cart up and leave it so some poor underpaid employee gets yelled out or possibly fired for not doing his or her job of restocking.

I stay out of that store and spend my time trying to get ride of the evil men in the WH and the evil men that have stolen millions of dollars from Ohio's workers compensation, and the evil men bilking indian tribes out of millions so that the GOP machine can keep raping the American tax payers, so they can get an even tighter control.

6. Read the other Wal-Mart threads....it's SUPPOSED to be childish.
That hasn't stopped other DUers from seriously suggesting similar "protests" against Wal-Mart.

26. But the next time I order my mocha-latte at
Starbucks, I'm not leaving a tip! Ha-ha! I'm appalled at the overpriced beverages they serve us yuppies - just because we can afford it! And the coffee sizes - vendi, venci, grande. For God's sakes, just call it a small, medium, large like McDonald's does; this is also highly discriminatory against us who do not speak Latin. I'm declaring Nov. 20 "Stiff Starbucks" day. We can't lower the prices, but we CAN lower the tips. The management will understand my point, I'm sure. And the workers who make minimum wage as they work through college will also understand that I'm doing this for a higher cause. Yuppies are truly being oppressed by Starbucks, but if we unite together, we can finally bring some justice to the coffee-shop.

16. OK, I began my activism today!
I didn't feel like fixing my own lunch, so I went down the street to a Popeye's fried chicken joint. (Yes, it's a bit déclassé, and they've never even heard of tofu or latté, but I like to be down with the people.)

As I was munching on a wing (spicy), my vanguardist sympathy for the overworked folks there overcame me. So, I waited until I was finished with lunch and then threw all my napkins and chicken bones on the floor, loudly announcing that I was acting in the name of the Glorious People's Revolution!

Nobody seemed to care, and some old lady came slowly tottering out to clean up my mess. As she painfully stooped over and began picking up greasy chicken bones, I explained that I was doing this for her and her proletarian brethren and sistren, so that management would have to pay them more. She just whispered to me that I was an asshole and her back hurt.

Such ingratitude!

17. This is so damn ignorant and here is why

Go ahead, become an idiot and shit on the floor. Have you ever cleaned up someones shit in one of those stores??? I have, did I get a pay raise no, I was told clean it or get fired.

Spread those leaves back out, the worker gets blamed and then another person goes on welfare, foodstamps and sits in the unemployment line. Again, another idiotic thing to do. They won't even get overtime to do the job again.

I mean, who the FUCK comes up with asshole ideas like the ones I have seen in other posts? It's just retarded to act like a child and think its going to make a billion dollar company treat it's workers better.

Here's an idea sparky, PROTEST THE HQ IN BENTONVILLE AR DUH

We're on the same side. I'm trying to make a comment on those "asshole ideas" that some people seem to think represent the very height of social awareness.

22. I want to do my part as a latter day Che...
...so I'm going to go into all of those big chain restaurants and order the biggest, priciest, most time-consuming thing to cook on the menu and walk out before it's served! I'm sure the low paid cooks in the kitchen will embrace my noble efforts to improve their lot in life by making them slave over a hot stove even more than they already do!

Further, in my revolutionary fervor, I'm also going to stiff every waiter/waitress/waitperson of a tip to protest the low wages they make! Won't that be a way to teach those corporate monsters a lesson!

I'm almost too modest to admit that sometimes I impress even myself with my brave, heroic, storming of these modern Bastille's...

23. How about we...
Edited on Sun Nov-13-05 12:40 AM by salvorhardin
...secretly inject all the overpriced heart medication at Walmart pharmacies with lethal doses of digitalis. That way all those ignorant slobs who get their meds at Walmart will die, and their families will sue the pants off both Walmart and Big Pharma! It's the perfect plan because we'll teach those freeper sheeple who shop at Walmart a lesson, and put Walmart and Big Pharma out of business at the same time!

Then we can all slip cynanide into the soda at McDonald's. That way those fat fucks who stuff their faces with refried grease burgers and lard fries won't get any fatter (because they'll all be dead) and the families will sue McDonald's out of existence just like with Walmart.

And as a bonus, think of the Medicaid savings!

Oh, and all the people who used to slave away at Walmart and McDonald's will thank us because they can all go out and get good paying jobs from small family businesses.
