"At first I thought (Ithe war) was a good thing."
"I'm not so sure anymore." Listening to the mom of a soldier, right now, in the coffee shop where I sit, talking to some table-mates about what her son is going through.

"He'll be 26 in December..."

"He joined after 9/11, on purpose."

Am I shamelessly eavesdropping? I frankly don't think I've run into a "soldier parent" in my personal life yet...

His unit went to a marketplace, spent $10 U.S. to feed 75 people for a couple of days... good for them...

More as it happens...

Poor woman. She and her friends have since yielded the table.

3. My brother's fiancee is a soldier parent.
After training the boy is being sent to Iraq and I have very bad feeling about the whole thing. The kid doesn't make level-headed decisions and I fear for him.

6. That's the best I could hope for.
I hope that kid is surrounded by level heads and decent people. I fear he could be led down the wrong path very easily.

4. I feel for anyone who has/had a loved one in Iraq. It would be even
harder to take, if I suddenly realized that the war, which I previously thought was a *good thing*, was based on lies and didn't need to be fought in the first place. Shame on ** and the corporate owned media for linking 9/11 and Bin Laden with Saddam Hussein! That so many were duped into joining the military, where they thought they would be protecting our country, is despicable!

10. Some of us realized that before the
SO shipped out before OIF, and they suspected it as well, but they had no opinion, what is maddening is.. showing all the evidence to congress critetrs and they still voted for it.
