Can you see why I write about my optimism now?
Edited on Wed Nov-09-05 03:39 PM by CrackpotAmerica
No one ever said that optimism is only felt during good times. Rather, it is born in the valleys of despair and hopelessness. This valley is one we have now passed. And now, we begin our slow and treacherous ascent toward the new plateau.

Although we are not fully victorious in our collective pursuit of recapturing the dignity of our wounded nation, we are several steps closer, my friends.

Closer, and closer we shall inch.

Onward and upward. . .

:)

1. May we find the wisdom of Plato on our new plateau.
From that high vista we shall survey the carnage left by years of GOP malfeasance, and start relief efforts and rebuilding of our shattered democracy.

3. Remember how awful we felt a year ago?
:)

Yes, we have a long, long way to go. But this is a start. And I'm enjoying it. :D

4. Maybe some see that we have just hit bottom
Edited on Wed Nov-09-05 04:09 PM by firefox
We hit bottom some time ago and then started digging. There has been no roll back on the Patriot Act or Bu$h's Blunder and the national debt grows $30 a day for every taxpayer. There is no call in the Congress that fed Directtv to Murdoch's News Corp for busting up the six media conglomerates.

I am thankful that so many young people are informing themselves with the Internet and that they will not have the brainwashing that so many of us older people do.

Surely, there are tens of millions of people that know we have hit bottom and are tired of the digging at taxpayer expense. The digging goes on. It is just a question of when we will hit rock as Congress is not going to stop the digging. I am optimistic that things are so bad we can slow down the digging. I do not see any signs that it will stop or that anyone knows how to fill in the hole with a maxed out credit card.

The only thing I am optimistic about is that things cannot get much worse. So what if we nuke Iran? Just how bad could that be?
