2. Rawstory reports Kilgore ahead by 10%
On www.rawstory.com: "Virginia governor's race: Kilgore (R) leads Kaine (D) with 37% reporting 52.59% - 42.59%...."

What is the true story?

22. Yes, with nearly 50% of the vote counted
I would call a 2% swing pretty large.

As long as Kaine can hold above 50%, we should be okay, but if he drops below it, it'll put me on the edge of my seat.

Potts is the first Republican I can honestly say that I respect in a LONG time. I still would have voted Kaine (I live in Maryland, so I couldn't vote), but it's nice to hear Republicans speak out against the nutjobs who have taken over.

41. Although I disagree with almost all of Pott's views,
he is an honorable person who distanced himself from what he called, the "flat-earthers" and "free-lunchers" who took over the repub party. Hopefully Kaine will win with enough of the vote that the cons cannot blame Potts.

To: skaterboy
Kilgore pissed it away

I agree. His campaign was not run well. He didn't clearly distinguish himself from the Kaine. He was against illegal immigration but he failed to get this message out. In fact, I never saw anything that indicated this. I also heard he was poor at debating but I didn't see any of those. His campaign failed to get back to WMAL AM 630 (Rush Limbaugh radio station) here in Northern Virginia concerning transportation questions that were also asked of the Kaine campaign. The Kaine campaign responded and WMAL reported their response, WMAL also reported that the Kilgore campaign failed to get back to them. This is bad publicity and also evidence of a disorganized campaign. Inviting the not so popular President Bush I believe was also a mistake.

60. I Have No Control Over What Happens....
One of two things is going to happen. Either nothing, in which case the current leader will win. Or......a dramatic and obvious switch in the final minutes. Believe me, if it's the latter, there will be plenty of time for us to kill ourselves, so I hope that it's the former, and we can celebrate with a cold one within the next hour.

Don't worry, though. With 2/3 of the vote in, even if the Repukes are holding back and stuffing ballot boxes, with a 4% lead it's gonna be damned near impossible for them to change anything.

104. actually not entirely--Kilgore pulled a dirty trick
in the last few days. I received a recorded phone message saying Tim Kaine was anti-choice and urging me to vote for Potts, as if it were paid for by Potts. But it wasn't (see DU threads on this). At least a few people I'm sure have been fooled enough to shift votes from Kaine to Potts.

winning side.

Spent too many nights at 72% of the precincts in where we're DOWN 4%....hoping for a miracle.
