Lott seems to take much glee in undermining Bush

1) His comments today that "We have met the enemy...and the enemy is us." re: the leaks.

2) He had "serious questions" about Harriet Miers

3) He was pretty critical of FEMA and the administration during Katrina.

4) He questioned Bush's committment to reining in government spending.

I wonder how much of this has to do with the WH engineering his stepping aside as Majority Leader and replacing him with Frist?

17. Rove engineered Lott's exit as Senate Majority leader. He had Russert

push Lott about his remarks on MTP at a time when the left wing blogs thought they were the ones who were chasing him out.

Lott was actually standing in their way on some energy legialstion. They wanted privatization in certain regions, including the south and Lott thought Mississippi's economy would suffer.
