Was it Lao Tzu who said
"if you remain by the river long enough, the body of your enemy will float by?"

Was it some other guy?

Any way you slice it, as we all sit here by the DU stream, we have to at least chuckle. Read closely, or not:

Roger Moran, a prominent Southern Baptist leader from Missouri and member of the SBC executive committee, calls for bold Christian leadership in education:

"One of the great tragedies of American Christianity has been the near universal failure of its leaders to boldly proclaim the inherent dangers lurking within America's government owned and controlled schools. But now, in the context of Southern Baptist life, that is beginning to change. We are beginning to understand with increased clarity that the worldview into which our children are being educated in the public schools matters supremely. The secular worldview taught in our public schools has not only laid the foundation for a 'new morality,' but with the aid of liberal activist judges has cleared the way for pro-homosexuality activists in their massive effort to recruit America's young people to the homosexual lifestyle."

HOMERSECTIONAL Recrewtin?!?!?!?!?!?!

1. "recruit America's young people..."
LOL! That seems funny in relationship to the very real HETEROSEXUAL agenda our schools have had for years and years and years! King and Queen of the Prom. School sponsored dances. Good grief!

Visit your average southern h/s football locker room at half-time on a Friday night. Try to "recruit" a c**ksu**er.

Welcome to funeral planning made easy, or at least quick.

2. That quote is Japanese not Chinese
It is unattributed but considered part of Japanese traditional proverbs.

4. Upon further reflection
(wouldn't it be fun to hear *those* words out of the mouth on an NFL referee)

I'm thinking you're most likely correct.

Any way you slice it, it's a brutal metaphor. Even for fundies.

:dilemma:

6. "If you remain in the military industrial complex long enough,
the opportunity to sell arms to your enemies will float by."

- VP GHW Bush, circa '86

Well, not a direct quote. :)

Here's the real one.

"On the surface, selling arms to a country that sponsors terrorism, of course, clearly, you'd have to argue it's wrong, but it's the exception sometimes that proves the rule."

- George Bush on selling arms to Iran, Good Morning America, 1/28/87

10. Well...I have to admit I do. It's that insane.
Kinda my reaction when people openly wonder (or blame Chavez) as to why South America doesn't provide a better welcome for Bush and his old Iran-Contra cabal.

10/15/84

The Associated Press reports the existence of a CIA-prepared manual teaching Nicaraguan rebels how to, among other things:
· How to blackmail unwilling citizens into supporting their cause
· How to arrange the deaths of fellow rebels to create martyrs
· How to kidnap and kill (the manual uses the word "neutralize") government officials.

10/18/84
A senior administration official says President Reagan did not know about the CIA manual until "after it appeared in the newspaper yesterday."

10/25/84
CIA Director William Casey writes to Congress to explain that the "thrust and purpose" of the CIA manual was to improve the effectiveness of the Nicaraguan rebels in "face-to-face communication."

11/3/84
President Reagan, although he has not read the manual, says that the word "neutralize" means "remove from office," not "assassinate." When asked how to remove an unwanted official, he replied, "You just say to the fellow that is sitting there in the office, 'You're not in the office anymore.'"

11. I get a call every Christmas
and birthday and New Year and anniversary from one of the coolest, most amazing people I've ever known.

The call comes from Venezuela. My friend is retired Venezuelan military. He has nothing but good to say of Hugo Chavez, and I've known him since before President Chavez was elected.

Knowing the M.O. of American diplomacy, combined with American espionage in South America, I grieve for Democracy in the land whose currency is named after the man they call "the George Washington of the Andes."

Kinda hurts, don't it?

That's great that you have a link to Venezuela, Mandrake. :hi:

and can never seem to get away.

Maybe someday I'll be able to afford to do the show from there. What an amazing experience that would be!

14. Is that his real last name?
That's too much of a coincidence.

Sorry. ;)

Yeah, all the public schools in America were secretly designed to function as gay meeting clubs. Gay people are like the Marines now, they do their own recruiting...

:sarcasm:

That is the funniest bunch of horseshit I have ever heard in all my born years.

What did they hit him on the head with before he wrote that?
