Are they too big for their own good?
The SUV backlash is in full effect with sales of some of the largest models down more than 50 percent.

In addition to their kids, pets and waistlines, many diet-driven Americans have found one more thing from which to trim the fat: their vehicles.
If recent sales trends continue, gas-guzzling sport utility vehicles -- those mighty metallic beasts that overran car pool lanes and soccer field parking lots during the 1990s -- are in danger of becoming rolling dinosaurs.
October's auto sales figures were grim all around, marked by an 11 percent decline compared with the same month last year, according to Ward's Automotive Reports, an industry statistics company. But it was the SUV market that was truly gutted. Indeed, sales of some bigger sport utility models -- including the Ford Expedition, Cadillac Escalade, Hummer H2 and GMC Yukon -- sank by more than 50 percent since last year.
