Charles and Camilla to visit the Lower Ninth Ward This afternoon
They will also visit a school which recently reopened in the French Quarter

The French Minister of Culture is also in New Orleans today vowing to assist the city's musicians, giving money to the city and announcing that France will loan 50 items from the Louvre to be placed in the New Orleans Art Museum in the future. His message: France is concerned about keeping the culture of New Orleans intact and France is gonna do something about it. Those damn French and their offers of assistance.

1. Maybe they can give Brownie some fashion advice
Despite his assertion that he is a fashion god, I didn't even think he looked that great. I'm sure the French could help him out.

And I keep wanting to tell him, it's NordSTROM, not NordSTROMS.

I hear they are going to SF. Watch out for earthquakes!

6. Interesting, isn't it?
Since Charles is an environmentalist I wonder if that's why he wants to see the disaster sites for himself.

4. I wonder if, during the bush WH dinner, the Royal couple were
informed that the British MREs donated after Katrina were deemed not fit for American consumption and were not distributed. I suspect not. The Royal couple have only been in the US 3 days and they are in NO, it took the President longer and he didn't have to fly to the US to get there.

5. Glad to know someone really cares
Too bad there's nobody in the upper levels our own federal government who seems to give a happy shit.

7. Karl Rove is obviously distracted...
This is a magnificent photo-op moment and the president is blowing it. He could be seen in the 9th ward of NOLA, giving a guided tour to British Royalty and a French Minister - they could even throw in a couple of black kids running up to hug the president again. That would make quite a picture.

Or are they afraid Camilla would upstage George?

8. While I'm glad France wants to help....
I hate to reject a gift, but they have their own issues they need to handle. Assistance with the NOLA cultural redevelopment would be better used helping their own people.

And yet again, even the horse-maddest, most uninspiring of recent royalty show that they have class and dignity to spare when compared to The Dim Son and The Joker.

Things like this make me a reluctant monarchist....

9. Uganda chipped in $20,000 for hurricane relief
right after Katrina. Its amazing where you will find compassion (and where you won't). Can you imagine what 20K would do to Uganda's budget?
