Feinstein Decries House Panel Vote to Split Ninth Circuit
November 3rd, 2005

This just received from Senator Dianne Feinstein's office regarding the breakup of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals:

The House Budget Committee today approved a breakup of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals as part of a $53.9 billion package of mandatory spending cuts over five years, an action opposed by Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) as “bad news for California.” This measure is moving forward rapidly under expedited procedures.

More details forthcoming shortly...

FYI - this is the "liberal" court that the RWers hate...the court that ruled the PoA unconstitional. All you need to know is that this was proposed back in October by RW knuckle draggers Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and John Ensign (R-Nev.). See here:

1. One point....
The 9th is by far the largest circuit of any of the Fed. In fact it is equal in size to all the others combined. Breaking this up is a good thing in terms of caseload etc.

What isn't good is that Bush would be able to appoint people to the new Circuits created.
