FEMA chief "heck of a job" Brownie & his BIZARRE Katrina emails
Edited on Thu Nov-03-05 08:11 AM by Bluebear
This is NO surprise. After all, the President was fundraising, eating McCain birthday cake, and strumming guitar with country stars during the crisis.
================

.....For instance, two days after Katrina, Marty Bahamonde, one of the only FEMA employees in New Orleans, wrote to Brown that "the situation is past critical."

"Here are some things you might not know. Hotels are kicking people out, thousands gathering in the streets with no food or water. Hundreds still being rescued from homes," Bahamonde said.

"The dying patients at the DMAT (Disaster Medical Assistance Team) tent being medivac. Estimates are many will die within hours. Evacuation in process. Plans developing for evacuation but hotel situation adding to problem. We are out of food and running out of water at the dome, plans in works to address the critical need.

"FEMA staff is OK and holding own. DMAT staff working in deplorable conditions. The sooner we can get the medical patients out, the sooner we can get them out. Phone connectivity impossible."

Brown's entire response was: "Thanks for the update. Anything specific I need to do or tweak?"
==
.....Melancon said that on August 26, just days before Katrina made landfall, Brown e-mailed his press secretary, Sharon Worthy, about his attire, asking: "Tie or not for tonight? Button down blue shirt?"

A few days later, Worthy advised Brown: "Please roll up the sleeves of your shirt all shirts. Even the President rolled his sleeves to just below the elbow. In this and on TV you just need to look more hard-working."

On August 29, the day of the storm, Brown exchanged e-mails about his attire with Taylor, Melancon said. She told him, "You look fabulous," and Brown replied, "I got it at Nordstroms. ... Are you proud of me?"

An hour later, Brown added: "If you'll look at my lovely FEMA attire, you'll really vomit. I am a fashion god," according to the congressman.

4. Give the guy a break. Fashion faux pas are such a no no.
I mean he probably had to wear a jacket and tie when he went out to that restaurant that he had to take two hours off for while his guy in New Orleans was defecating in the hall of the Superdome along with 30,000 other people.

When he gets back and has to go on TV to tell the world what a great job he's doing he HAS to look the part of a hard working hands on sort of guy, you know the sort who could jump into a rowboat and start pulling people off of rooftops at a moment's notice.

It sounds like he worked REAL hard to get the look down pat. Too bad he didn't put as much effort into actually working.

21. In spite of it all, his hair was perfect! heckuva job brownie!!!
I wish we could force him to read each and everyone of our posts, I wish our sarcasm could physically hurt him, I wish he could feel some pain, discomfort, something other than his smuggish snobbery.

Then he would have been Brownie on the spot.

8. Now someplace in here comes the all important e-mail about the restaurant
You remember....to summarize..."Brownie has to refuel and that takes time. Eating is hard work." Reply from FEMA guy (lost track now of his name): "Fcuk you brownie...I just had to eat an MRE and take a dump in the middle of the stadium, like all the other people imprisoned here."

Where does this exchange fit in?

9. That's Bahamonde, at the top of the article. Two days after Katrina.
That particular reply was not to Brownie, but to a couple other FEMA employees.

10. I don't understand how someone this dense even functions.
How does he walk out his door every morning without someone trying to beat the shit out of him for some previous display of massive venality? How does he walk around with his head so far up his own ass? I really didn't think it was possible for him to be more navel-gazing but he's out-done himself.

12. Pedro, on Washington Journal, just read part of this article but
he stopped just at the point after the rolling up the sleeves comment before the woman referred * rolling up his sleeves.

Folks, remember that CSPAN is a "public service" of the cable industry.

13. A new low...
This defines the failure of the bushite payback appointments. Incompetent, uncaring, insensitive, vain, out of touch, I really am at a loss to put into words the loathing and disgust I feel about this slime ball.

22. I wish we could charge him with felony:
1. Felony snobbery
2. Felony vanity
3. Felony smugness
4. Felony opportunitism
5. Felony insensitivity
6. Felony flirting with the hired help while on the dole, er, taxpayers dollar (funny how the repugs hate government, but are first to belly up to the feed trough with the other hogs, but thats another story).
7. Felony incompetence
8. Felony misrepresentation of a) being qualified for the job, b) of being a human being.

Scum, but that's just my opinion.
