It's official...a guy I thought I could talk to is a freeper
We have been exchanging emails.
I have known and worked with him in the past.

I wrote a lenghty piece about this insane war and the lies and the leak and the bullshit of not sending troops in armored.

Here is the response and I will not be talking to him again.
Wow! There is this kind of peolple out there.
Frightening shit eh?

---------------------------------------

Yeah whatever sit in your comfy chair and spew your anti govt crap. Get up and make a difference. It's easy to follow.... harder to lead.
We could alleviate the need for oversees oil here by drilling but all the bug and tree lovers will never let that happen.
We did not go to war just for oil. The US will not tolerate pussy terrorists. We will find them and destroy them. The troops are their to send a message to the rest of the world. Don't F with the US.
The Pres doesn't demoralize the troops. It's the Press and loud mouths who spew the anti-Gov crap. They publicize everything that is going wrong and nothing that is going right.
Would you have been happy growing up in Iraq? Posting your anti gov rhetoric about Sadam. You would have been silenced **
Exit strategy...set up Iraqi Gov..train their military....leave
Bush is not the best Pres but he has the nuts for it. Not like Clinton who just liked to get his nuts off.
Again leaders and followers...we know who we are

35. What's the story?
You wrote "army has just called my 47-year old ass up out of the IRR"

IRR must be some kind of reserve? So you served in the army for a long time and then retired and are being called back now?
I think I read they can only do that to officers? How long were you in and how long have you been out? What will you be doing now? Did they give you a time limit?

You say, maturely, a deal is a deal, but did you really think it was possible? I mean...is it made clear or is it a fine print sort of thing?

I wish you luck in whatever you end up doing, but wish you weren't being called. I wish no one needed to be.

42. I left active duty under something called VSI.
Yes, I am an officer.

Basically I chose to take an early retirement after 12 years. The deal was I stayed in the ready reserves (IRR) as long as I got paid. Normally, the IRR doesn't get called up unless it's a real emergency (especially infantry). I think doctors and nurses got called up for Gulf War 1. It was not a complete surprise, as the military has been facing a personnel crisis for some time.

27. He thinks Bush wants to leave Iraq
If you care to, that's where you nail him. Because if Bush has the troops in Iraq to send a message to the world, then he can't very well pull them out, now can he.

So, either Bush has no long term plan to fight terrorism, or he's going to leave the troops in Iraq and is lying to us and the Iraqi people.

tone is not one would adopt if one wanted to say "Leave me alone." He would do that by totally ignoring the political content of your post. I think he is egging you on, attempting to get you to think through some stuff you posted in your first email. (I dont have it here before me so I can only speculate about that).

I my experience, cutting off the lines of communication is seldom the most fruitful way to solve a problem.

41. Here is what I wrote
It strarted with him ranting about Michael Moore and 'demoralizing' the troops.

I sent this:

What's demoralizing?
The part where Moore made a film about the reasons we shouldn't have trusted Bush or the fact that every day we find more evidence that Fahrenheit 911 wasn't such a far fetched piece of Hollywood after all?

I believe it is never OK to disrespect the troops especially before they head into battle. I believe that's the worst form of troop disrespect, and therefore the biggest knock to the US, is to lie in order to send them to die.

I believe that the most demoralizing thing to a combat troop has to be the idea that the person in charge of your ultimate fate on this earth has no clue what it is to be involved in the situation he so gleefully drops you into.

Sending the troops with no exit strategy and without equipment is demoralizing. The troops may think their government could care less about them when they are sent into a war zone that was badly planned, badly executed with no sight in end. Why would they think the government cares about them when they don't have the right equipment that could save their lives? Why would they think they care when they have to see to their own equipment through outside sources?
If that isn't demoralizing, I don't know what is.

I don't buy into your suggestion that speaking out against the war is somehow against the troops.
Many troops disagree with this President.
http://optruth.org/

If you can find one rational anti-war protester that doesn't wish for the safe return of our soldiers, regardless of when that is, I will help you kick their ass. It is a fallacy, they don't exist.

This 'war' was and is based on bogus intel.
Bush/Cheney witheld crucial intel that didn't fit their plan to attack. They deceived the American public and Congress in their haste to invade.
These facts are now and will be coming out more and more. Many of us had suspected this already. They had plans for this as soon as they took office and before. 9/11 gave them cover.

Bush himself said in Sept 2003, "We have no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with the Sept. 11." Even though they hyped the bogus Al Qaeda link in the run up to war.

Harry Reid called a closed session of Congress today and forced the Republicans to uphold their promise to start Phase II of the investigation of the intel that led up to war. We are going to find out if real intel backed their speeches or not...finally.

The truth is starting to come out and the Plame leak was their critical mistake. You don't undermine the CIA and get away with it. The CIA asked the DOJ to investigate the leak as soon as Novak's column went out. This administration thought they could intimidate the CIA by leaking one of their agents. They fucked up. You don't do that to the CIA or our country.

It would take 400,000 troops, 3 years and an estimated 15,000 dead to just 'secure' Iraq.

Bush/Cheney/Rumsfield have 'knocked' and 'demoralized' our troops by sending them into a conflict with NO PLANS to secure the peace. They told the troops they would be welcomed with candy and flowers.

It's impossible to invade another country, kill thousands, many of them civilians, and then force our form of government on them. An occupying force will always be fought. It unifies them against us just like an armed foriegn government here would do to us.

I know a Marine there. He has confided in me that since the enlistment requirments were lowered, by Bush, to meet sagging recruitment goals, the morale has never been lower.
He wonders why he is there but does his job.
It is worse than the media lets on.

When you understand the hatred Osama bin Laden had for the secular Saddam Hussein, you understand that OBL was thrilled that we invaded Iraq. This broke Saddam's hold and now Osama and his religious fanatics, along with Iran, have a much broader influence over the region plus they use the occupation as a recruitment tool for the fanatics.

This President and this administration have demoralized our troops by sending them to their needless deaths and maimings.

The insanity that drove us to this war was created by a power-drunk greedy bunch of bastards.

---------------------------------------------

I am sure we will have to possibly agree to disagree on this one.
It is a bit "charged".

Try listening to KLSD 1360am. Just give it a week. There is a great deal of good info there.
I am not trying to convince you.
