Texas in the headlines in the Arab world
The story of the seperated Egyptian twins in the Texas hospital is making headlines in the Arab world, and giving the USA great PR. They are loving us for this. When will the administration realize that the way to get people around the world to stop hating us is to offer them this kind of help rather than bombing and shooting them?

2. You mean the Bush administration?
Well, I should think never is the right answer. But, when will American sheeple understand that making friends is better than making enemies? I would guess roughly 500 years. See, I have hope. I'm an optimist afterall.

4. we have lost a lot of respect in the Arab world
we built a number of leading institutions in the Arab world like the American Universities of Cairo and Beirut. A number of hospitals were built with American money University of Pennsylvania helped the scholarship of Middle Eastern Antiquities in Iraq by excavating Nineveh and training Iraqis in archaelogy (they were able to keep up the antiquities without outside support under Saddam). We squandered away the good will that we have had.

People forget we got a lot of good will in Europe through the Marshall plan where we gave away a lot of stuff. We wont get that good will in Iraq by forcing them to pay reparations.

6. This is getting some play (at least it's positive)
a brief scan of headlines did not look too promising though

I didn't scan the news channels this morning, so I am not really sure how it's playing on the Arab news stations.
